First lesson with Scott Lee

randyg...I agree. I wish there were more recognized pool schools. However, the flip side is that I have to say that I DO enjoy traveling around, getting to meet new people, and help them learn to teach themselves how to play better...and the road show pool schools are fun too! I have a blast doing the exhibitions too!

I was just in Troy, MI (Detroit) yesterday, working with an Army Major. He was a VERY good student (go figure, being a Major...almost Lt. Col.)! He told me yesterday morning he was a "grinder", and he proved it. We spent MANY hours together in his "mancave", where he has a 9' Diamond, and a Valley barbox.

I'm working with a couple of AzBrs in Chicago this weekend, and others in IA, NE, and MN next week. No rest for the weary!...and to think I also have 4-5 pool schools coming up soon (2 in CA, 1 in PA, 1 in NJ and 1 in FL)...and that's just Jan. & Feb.! There's some miles traveled!

Just think if there where a dozen or more recognized Pool Schools all around the USA. Kinda like golf camps. Skill levels would rocket and we would not have to travel so much.....SPF=randyg

"The names in order were, Jerry Breisath,Randy Goettlicher,Mark Wilson, and Scott Lee."

All from the same school of thought.......thank you
randyg

I have been doing some informal teaching this past year and it is amazing the way most students respond to their first lesson or two. Usually great leaps of improvement are realized by working on a few simple things.

Years ago, I had the privilege of working at a pool hall owned by one of your top 4 instructors. One of the other top 4 cut his teeth in that same pool hall. I benefited from countless hours of just "being there".

Since I enjoy teaching, my goal now is to become BCA recognized and be able to offer a standardized cirriculum.

Anyway, good luck with your lesson. Let us know how it goes!

10 Days that’s right. My first real pool lesson and it is with Scoot Lee. I can’t wait. I read so much about him here on the boards and can’t wait to start learning. Merry Christmas to me, thanks to my wife for a great Christmas present..
Sure hope your wife thought this through. This will not be the last lesson. Scott will blow you away. Pay attention. Master what he teaches. Then you'll be going back for more.

That's the downside. Professional instruction can be addicting.

I am sure this will be the first of many. Its getting closer only 5 days away now.

@HRROCKET

(the negative-writers could now go and get some chips and scroll down to the next thread or so- so you could not gettin afraid to learn somethin..)

HRROCKET,i hope some of these stupid and silly postings won t bring you down- you will 100% having amazing boost with your 1st lesson. Not many players have the luck, to start with an instructor with so much experience. An Instructor is *living* from his experience- and the most important thing is, that he is able to transport what he is thinking- and this to students you ve never seen before. So it s really hard work (don t seem so, but it is). It really not that easy to watch a person playin pool and find out immediatly where to start on his fundamentals! This can only be succesful if you have *trained* your eye+brain computer (hi Mr G. Fels :p)-
HRROCKET, your will have so much fun-believe me (or not, lol). It seems to me, that you re reallyl lookin forward to your first lesson- and this is the lesson each teacher is also lookin for- if a student is hungry to receive your knowledgement with all his aspects- he WILL TEACH YOU HOW TO LEARN playing pool on your own-nobody can teach you how to play pool- showing you and teaching you that you re able to work on your own-thats the key.

And to this funny negative-writers here: Go further and get beaten by good shooters and learn how to put on the rack perfectly. With your mind of learning you will be a great rack-instructor one day......i bet every guy who beats you can teach you how to put on a rack perfectly.

happy new year for all of you,

lg
Ingo

p.s. And to all of you, who *love* to teach and sharing their experience and knowledement with others- may u always have a thankful and *hungry* student :) then *we* all having fun and learn also from em... :)

Ratta...Everything you said here is so true! I do SO love teaching! It is real self gratification when the "light goes on" for a student, especially about something they have struggled with. I'm certainly not the only instructor who loves to teach (there are several others who post here too)...thankfully there are many of us out there, but more are needed. We have 40 million "hungry" poolplayers, just here in U.S.A., and many more millions in other places. I worked with two very eager-to-learn students yesterday and today, here in Chicago. We had a blast together...and of course they know that the tale will be told in what they DO with the new knowledge...that it must be practiced diligently, and they must have to patience to endure, until it becomes habit!

HRROCKET...Only 3 more days!

As one of the lucky Chicago people who was able to work with Scott this weekend, I wish you the best with your lesson and I dont think you'll be disappointed.

Scott is the consumate professional, incredibly knowledgeable, and a lot of fun to learn from. This was my first pool lesson, and undoubtedly Scott had his work cut out for him with my patented "stroke of doom" but the patience and focus he gave me was incredible. I know I have a lot of work ahead, and I am looking forward to gettin after it. I would definately recommend Scott to anyone looking to learn and feel lucky he had time to work with me.

Thanks Scott, and safe travels!!

Joe

Well 14 hours till the lesson thanks to everyone for the advice, wish me luck. See you tomorrow Scott.

Joe...You were a good student! Stroke of doom? No way...your process was very good already. All we did was tweak it a little! LOL Good luck with your Mother Drills, and keep me updated!
