Leather wrap on new cue a little slick

I agree with mink oil. It will give a nice sheen and be slick for a few days. Then as it helps protect your investment it will also soften the leather up.

Mink oil and saddle soap will not loosen the wrap. They will condition your wrap and help it last longer. The only ill effects is they will darken some colors.

A word of caution. Not all leathers and hides are alike. It is critical to know the nature of the leather before applying anything to it. Many leathers have a urethane top coating even if they look naked. These leathers are very low maintenance, requiring only an ocassional wipe with a damp towel followed by a dry cloth. More intensive cleaning would only be needed if the users hand tends to get moist. Oils and such will only be useful with naked, vegetable tanned or oil tanned leathers. YMMV. I hope this is helpful.

I don't care for the Walmart brand. I buy FIEBING"S brand at Tractor Supply or Farm & Fleet.
