Isn't there a famous pool hall in ND? I can only imagine a wind chill that cold.

I can't imagine playing pool with the temperatures at or below zero no matter how much heat they have inside the pool room. I would be scared my ferrules would crack when applying a medium hit.

Hope Mike Page & Fargo Billiards Gastropub is surviving the cold weather.

They have a January "Mid-Winter" pool tournament next week http://www.facebook.com/pages/Fargo-ND/Fargo-Billiards-Gastropub/131801224534. Brrrr!

We are supposed to have wind chill of -35 tomorrow in Missouri. So much for global warming.

I can't imagine what the heating bill looks like for these winter months. Wishing Mike the best.

I would make all the players and customers wear insulated underwear and full length coats.

Let's guess what the heating bill is per month. I say $2500 during the month of December.

From looking at the pictures of his room, I think it would be more. My house can cost $500 when it hits -40. I stayed at one place that was $800 per month. My guess would be $4000 range.

I am heading up there for the tourney next weekend. It won't be too bad.

My junior year of college (attended NDSU in Fargo) we had a 3 day stretch where the highs were in the mid -20's. There was a citywide 72 to 96 hour wait to jumpstart a vehicle.

North Dakota Cold Weather Secrets

Having lived for 4 years in Bismarck, and survived some pretty cold winters, the locals Wear Long Underwear,Drink Lots of Alcohol, and Snuggle A Lot with their Honey's to stay warm!!! Most of the pool players I played League with Never Missed a winter match. That's some hardcore league players up there. I would still be up there if I hadn't come back to Cajun Country and stuffed myself on Boiled Crawfish and Boudin!!! Oh yeah, the heating bills up there aren't that bad, don't think mine ever topped $200. a month. I am trying to plan a trip so I can see Mike's place in Fargo,on the way to Jamestown, and maybe take in the 4 Bears Tourney in New Town.

I'm going to guess that your guess could easily be doubled.

Minus 52 degrees

A friend of mine that is in the Air Force just spent 2-1/2 yrs in Minot, ND and that's the reason why he just signed on for 1 year over seas duty in Korea, to get the hell out of there.

I was talking with him on the phone one night, he asks what the temp was. I replied that the a/c was going in the house and it was like 72 degrees outside. He said it was -5 degrees outside his home. We spoke for a hour and the temp had dropped another 3 degrees while we were on the phone.

By the way, he grew up here on the gulf coast, so he's not exactly used to that type of weather. ;)

Jamestown and 4 Bears

JoeyA,the 4 Bears event is one of the biggest upper midwest pool tournaments held. It takes place in a Native American Casino in New Town,ND. Check out the tournament section here for the flyer details. Jamestown has a White Buffalo(Sioux Symbol for Good Luck). Thought I'd drop in an rub the Horns for Good Luck!! Actually,I have some people there I haven't seen in a few years. You have any connections in ND?

It's cold here. I heard something like -40 below this morning with the windchill. It's still -32 (with the windchill) right now (3:30pm).

It's a bit chilly, but no big deal.
