In my 1st post you guys were extremely helpful regarding pointing me in the direction of supplies etc to replace my 1990's vintage Olehausen cushions and Cloth.

Pat reccommended www.poolfelt.com as a site to purchase the products necessary to do the job.

Now I have some additional questions..

1. In reviewing Cloth options I have read that Simonis 860 is preferred by many although Championship Tour addition has also been reccomended in reviewing the weights and wool content I found that Arimith tournament seems based on the specs to have a higher wool content and is $129 vs $214 and $180 for the others. They are all 24 Oz cloth with 90% wool.
Can someone give me some guidance here on what I might be missing based on just the material specs. I did see one thing that no one publishes in their specs... thread count?

2. For cushions I have a similar confusion. The Artemis cushions are $189 for a set while the proforms are only $65. I know you get what you pay for but I would like a little more idea of why these Artemis cushions are worth 3x the cost of Proform. How long should a cushion for a home table last?

3. Still want to know a little more about the Acu-Fast which Olehausen now warranties for the life of the table. I am getting the impression that I can't buy Acu-fast cushions. Are these cushions limited to authorized dealer install only?

Thanks

First a correction - Tour Edition is 70% wool, not 90%.

You won't find published TPI.
TPI, weight and wool content are just 3 of the many factors that determine cloth quality.
Comparing cloth on this forum is an exercise in futility because of the variety of opinions but it's probably safe to say the simple majority prefers Simonis.

Aramith cloth is made in the same mill as Velocity. Both are good quality and fill the lower price point demand for worsted cloth. Simonis has owned and operated their own mill for over 200 years. The only product they make is billiard cloth with undoubtedly the strictest quality control of any cloth on the market. When people look at other brands the question most often asked is "how does it compare to Simonis".

On cushions the ProForm are in the same class of standard type cushions as Champ Pro-Ams and probably the Diamond Blacks. Good quality, good bounce, decent life. Consider that none are made to last forever. Even Artemis will degrade eventually. Like tires on your car at some point they need to be replaced but you get more mileage from Artemis.

Simply speaking, if you want to go top shelf products then Artemis and Simonis would be the choice. This is not to say you can't get excellent durability and playability from less expensive products.

On Olhausen products you should be able to buy the cushions but I believe anything with a lifetime warranty requires installation by an authorized Olhausen dealer (unless this has changed).
