Derby Bound

And so, I'm about to head towards the Derby. As usual, and as I have for many years now, I expect to post a trip report, post mortem.

This year, for reasons unknown, known and varied, I feel a certain ennui about going. My game has, pretty much, been in the toilet lately -- not much 1pocket, a little 14.1, some 8ball, but frankly I don't feel ready. My entry is in for the 1pocket, so I'm committed there. And, I expect to play in Bob Jewett's 14.1 Challenge -- I would love to post a 50 or better at that, but I'm just not feeling "jiggy with it" so who knows. I also have a money match or two that I'm on the hook for, that I pretty much feel compelled to play, regardless.

The last couple of weeks I have done some extreme messing around with my PSR and, watching some Efren DVDs has messed with my mind. What I have jerry-rigged together, I fear will fail miserably when the heat comes. Nonetheless, I am off to compete, see friends, drink beer, observe great pool, and buy gimcracks, (did I mention drinking beer

I hope to meet folks there, see old friends, and maybe steal a match or two.

I'll let you all know how that works out for me.

I know the feeling, sometimes I can fight through it. As I get older my slumps are harder to shake and dead stroke doesn't visit as much as he used to. But I cant give it up.

Watch out for who buys you that beer? There's been a lot of "have you ever been jarred" threads popping up recently. :frown:

(Just as soon as you get there, go ahead and lose some dough real quick and your ennui will leave you faster than a scorned woman.)
