Why pool table rails are made wrong?

table

Yeah I'll check my ph records. I did fix it as I said but wanted to know what or why etc.

This is a great thread topic. As a traveling mech do you go back and correct problems or have someone else fix them. Or do you say its the manufacturer problem. Or do you just say you do things a certain way. Maybe you should show whoever glued down my cloth(which I thought was suppose to be new) your glue method. OK, Now I'm cranked.

I have guys pissing and moaning to me about balls hanging in front of pockets. SO, I know, I should fix it. Seems to me that a method so good, so great, etc can be screwed up by the same people who say it doesn't present problems. OR, did I just get the last 2 on the shelf.

Don't get me wrong, the tables with their supertight pockets are nice. BUT even Mercedes have problems with their cars. You would think my tables would have been checked over before being sent.

NOthing worse is when a ball hangs up in front of the pocket and someone looses because of it.

so I have to fix that also right. Would have thought I would had zero problems. These were tournamen tables. Are you suppose to get new cloth with these tables? you know I didn't.

I will NOT be showing the glue method in my DVD series which are coming out.

so ur saying that there was excess glue on the cloth in front of the pockets on the playing surface??that is whos fault? the guy who established the method..? no....sounds like someone at the factory got a little to much glue in that area and did not follow directions...u should call diamond factory and talk to them...
-ur making a what..? a DVD on how to staple bed cloth on? good luck on diamond tables and the slates with no framed backing..

They use a combination of plumbers putty, tooth picks and a little peanut butter and jelly for a sure hold.

John, tournament used tables come with tournament used cloth....thus..."tournament used". And just so you know, just about every time you open your f&%ing mouth here on AZ, it's always got to have something to do with me....so from now on, take your problems up with Diamond, I'm done with your little boy jealous bs comments and attitude!

Oh, and by the way, you can make what ever DVDs you want, because if you think you're that good of a mechanic, you're not...much better than the run of the mill, which is why you're always pulling the BS you do.

And seeings how you think you know SOOOOO much about tables....and rails, here's a question for you. What is the optimum sub-rail thickness to get K66 cushions to play at their best? Answer that smart-ass and we can go back to talking again, but make sure you answer it right here in the open on AZ...so we can all see just how smart you really are!!!!!!

Hey, Glen. I am still waiting for the seamless slates? Like i said a long time ago. You and a lot of other mechanics are wasting there breathe. It is no use talking to somebody that knows everything. This guy gets off on stupid questions and off the wall answers. There is no need for popcorn and butter.Because we know that this guy is just plain ignorant!

Now u know how most feel about u and ur posting ideas..

And how much are all of your peanut butter and jelly posts contributing? Come on, guys. We're all adults here and leaders in our industry. The bickering and name calling isn't getting us anywhere. Jerks. ;)

Wow, you act like a little kid with your whining about zero problems. Just name one person that has ever done one table perfectly, not one of us has completed a job where there wasn't some kind of small imperfection. The imperfection may never show up in the playability of the table, but we know it's there.

Something small like glue under the pocket opening is a big problem on a table, I understand that, but to call someone out on here that is a top mechanic is sad. Be a man and just fix the problem, and forget it.

We all do the best we can with tables, and working everyday on them sometimes shit is going to happen.
If you're the mechanic you act like you are, you would never bring something negative up about another
mechanic that posts to help everyone.

Trust me, I don't care if you get on me,I know the kind of work I do, and it's not perfect, but it is very good.
I learn a lot of things everyday working on tables, and I don't act like I'm above anyone on here.

Everyone keeps saying we need to work together, when do we start?????????
Have a nice day John, and try and relax, it's just a pool table.

Your right, your all right.

You are all much better then me.

Both in life and as mechanics, so judge me its OK.

People that speak with me generally don't find your perspective on me though so I don't feel that bad.

I do feel bad though, hope your all happy, Yes its all my fault. Its always my fault that when I start a thread I get no cooperation for the most part just flamers.

This forum is a good place. There was a layer of ice on it that I broke. Now new guys are coming in here and posting their ideas. I made the forum a better place whether you think so or not.

Judge me, please. I try to change and improve. Attack me with threads like AZB versus OTLB. Its OK because I am just a little better then your AVERAGE HACK. Really not sure where that puts me but its ok> I never called anyone in here a hack that I can remember. Certainly RKC is no hack and I never said he was as he knows I respect him and his abilities as one of the top mechs in here. He has shown with pics and words what he does. I don't jump on threads and bandwagons( not one of my weaknesses). More of you can come down on me, its ok, in case you haven't read my posts, I'm use to it.

Yet I still try to change, maybe you guys should try too

Here is the kind of guy I am.

Going back to the beatings I took in the school yard. 3 kinds of people. Guy who helps the weakling in a fight, one who cheers for the bully or the one that watches and does nothing because he is too scared.

I keep getting beat up so you know which one I am.

I would have protected you in the school yard from getting beat, but only until I saw that you were badgering kids enough to the point that they beat on you to make you quit, at which point...you'd be on your own;)

Glad to hear that, only thing is I never asked for help in the school yard.

Its better sometimes to fight for yourself, otherwise, winning has no meaning

Then someone like you needs to either learn to fight better, or run faster;) because the way I see it, you're still badgering someone into fighting a fight you still can't win at;)

Cant we all just get along? heh

There is so much information on this forum, it is pretty scary actually. I always considered myself a competent mechanic, but from just 6 months on here actively I can see there really isn't a limit to where we can take this. I do have some techniques that I still use out of habit (not always a good thing) but between so many leaders in this profession from around the country I can only say that I am moving forward much faster now with the help from you all. Sometimes the egos will flare, but that doesn't mean I don't value all the views. Personally, I am not comfortable using #10 in a residence so that limits some of the RKC advice, and with John often throwing down an obscure gauntlet it makes for interesting reading. Hopefully I will get to know more of you guys in person, because as a group we are only widening the gap between the average installer and the elite mechanic by participating. We all have something to share, mine probably isn't cloth pulling or advanced leveling techniques! However if you want to start making prototypes... that is a different story.

Just my 2 cents

John.

You have to stop taking the things said in this forum personally! Part of being a leader or innovator is the ability to take criticism. When people disagree with your ideas or methods arguing in the defense of them is natural. Defending your character for proposing them is futile and unproductive.

There is an old saying. "tell a man he's wrong and he'll dislike you, prove he's wrong and he'll hate you" Johnny, you have nothing to prove here!

Relax and continue to do what you do. There are no school yard bully's here. Just some working guy's with different opinions about things.

Jay

yeah I know I get excited but you guys know that also, I do hold my cool in poker though. Looking forward to learning some things from you as well.
