whats the difference bewteen steel jointed cues and non steel cues ? ive heard that the steel ones have a stiffer hit then other cues.

That's all in their head.
Cue stiffness of cues is more likely due to woods used and taper.
the guy who told me that was using my cue on a draw/masse shot and said he couldnt do it cause its not steel jointed.... i kinda thought it was b/s but hes one of those really really old guys lol so i figured he was right lol
He probably couldn't do it because he doesn't have a stroke.There's One thing you'll notice the longer you're around this game. After some people get effecient at running 4 or 5 balls in a row, they will start to notice how the table rolls off or how dirty the balls are or how a cue doesn't have the right joint or whatever.. Their lack of skills is rarely at fault for a miss or a loss.
my table always rolls off or a ball skids right after i run 4 balls. that's why i never make it to 5 balls
Bunk! One of the stiffest cues I ever played with was a Josey, and he doesn't do SS joints.

I agree with the woods and taper playing a big part as far as stiffness goes.
Also the fit-up and overall construction on steel joints seems to vary quite a bit.
Some with more metal to metal contact seem to hit harder but not necessarily stiffer.
Others have so little metal contact they may as well be flat faced, and I have steel jointed flat faced cues as well.
