Pool an Olympic Sport

We don't need the Olympics
Majic,please go to the World Pool Billiard Association website. It will give a history and their endeavours over the past 20 years in the attempt to get Cue Sports into the Olympic Games.
While many believe some benefit can be realized from participation in such events,I for one do not. The Olympics is passe',viewership is down except in those countries which are relatively new to participation. I can't provide the link,but the USOC will probably have some data,and nielsens surveys can provide the viewing information.
The politics of the IOC would make our Congress jealous with their ability to kill good ideas. Years ago,I also thought it was a good idea,but after evaluating what I felt were pro's and con's,I opted for non participation.We do not need the Olympics to give credibility to our Sport. It's also a waste of money belonging to a dozen world organizations just to buy your way in!!!

Majic...#1 reason...no $$$ to grease the wheels. #2 reason...no room. The IOC has to drop sports to add new ones, and the ones that are clamoring to be added grease palms all the way to the top. Pool has no such contingent nor money. JMO

I can't imagine it would do a whole lot for the game even if it was.
Table Tennis and Fencing are two olympic sports that come to mind that have less television coverage than pool.
Even if it was in, you would get either a brief mention or maybe get to see the last few shots of the final.
IOC recognition is good enough for me.

I'm pretty sure there are more table tennis players in China alone than there are watchers of any televised pool event. It's pretty close, though. ;-)
No doubt, but I was referring to North America though.
