Scruggs Player with Points For Sale Under 1K!!!

Hi all,

I have an OLD Scruggs player for sale today. I bought it from a guy that said he'd owned it for over seventeen years, and he bought it used then. Judging by the ringwork and the fact that the cloth shows through the black phenolic, and after talking to a couple of Scruggs experts, it certainly looks to be over twenty years old.

The cue is made from a dark ebony and BEM and has four non veneered points that are sharp and very close to even. It has a few finish chips and some assorted dings (mostly in the butt sleeve), but nothing noteworthy. I've tried to show the blems in the last pictures (second post in the thread with pics).

The cue has two shafts with synthetic ferrules. One is approx. 12.65-12.7mm in diameter and the other is 12.1-12.3mm, depending on where you take the measurement. The ringwork is the old small dash Scruggs style with rings on each side. They are at either side of the joint and right before the buttcap.

The wrap looks to be original. The seam is tight. It is a lightly patterned leather that is almost smooth. It feels very good in your hand!

The cue weighs 19.6-19.9 oz. depending on the shaft and rolls straight. The hit is firm and has an old school feel to it. The tips look to be WB and feel about medium in hardness. The buttcap is black and has Tim's logo on it.

This cue is the ultimate player's cue and with a little refinish action, I think it would eventually be collectible, as it's an old timer from one of the best cuemakers in the business.

To top it off, it's available at SOLD!!! shipped in the US (I'll ship it out of the US, but it will be a little more on the shipping). I'm in this deal with a partner, so no trades at this time, sorry... If you have any questions, or need to see more pics, please let me know.

Thanks!

Steve

Very nice Scruggs here for sale with a good price. I believe my friend has already contacted Hunter for this cue.

Thanks for your note hdridertroy, but Mikko is right, I just sold the cue to his friend...sorry!

How's everything in Finland these days, Mikko? I haven't seen you on the forums for awhile. Coaching going well? Vesa seems like a nice person, and I think he'll really like this Scruggs. It's a great hitting stick! I think you own one, too, though don't you? Take care...

Regards,

Steve

Hey Steve, lots of snow in here right now :) Have been quite busy with my new job, not much time for pool and not for the most important part: the AzB :) Nowadays I rarely have time to write anything (not even at work, duh!) but I've been lurking here in the shadows a lot lately.

Yeah, Vesa is a great person and he's starting to hit 'em well after joining our Ritz club a couple of years ago. I've been coaching him for like a year or so now, and he has picked up a lot of stuff from our sessions. He enjoys shooting with my Scruggs so much that tears of joy are flowing out from his eyes, so I tell him why not get one? I bought mine used and couldn't imagine playing with another cue since. Mine has 4 points w/ 5 veneers, Acme pin and a nice smooth leather wrap. Top quality in every sense.

How's everything with you? Lots of snow there as well? :)

I also told Vesa he needs to get a Scruggs because he liked Mikko's cue so much and this one is a fabulous old-school stick. I'm happy he got one, it's always nice to see more customs in these backwoods. Besides, they look great on your igloo wall and are real handy for fighting off polar bears.

What a great story. You can't go wrong with a Scruggs or Cochran cue. I would have snatched it up quick if i had seen it in time. ENJOY!! Vesa

LOL!

No snow here, Mikko! That's the white stuff that falls out of the sky? That's the beauty of living in Arizona (remind me of that in July when it's 115 degrees).

You cracked me up with the polar bear and igloos, Kalle! People actually wonder if people in Arizona still have gunfights in the streets at high noon and fight off attacking Apaches in our spare time... The gunfights are actually at 2:00 PM nowadays...;)

Let me get this straight, Mikko, Vesa, Kalle, and Mika all belong to the same club? Wow, that's someplace I'd want to stay away from with a pocketful of money!!! Bet I could pick up a tip or two, though...

I'm glad you helped talked Vesa into going for the Scruggs. That old rascal is a phenomenal player, straight as an arrow, and might just be the oldest Scruggs I've ever seen. It should be at his door pretty soon.

Hey Country Bob, sorry you missed this one! How's everything else with you these days?

Take care!

Hey! Steve, I'm just having a ball plowing snow here for over a week now. Hope to go home to my igloo soon l.o.l. Vesa sounds like a great guy with friends that care. Maybe if they like the cold so much i'll see them at the SBE and have a chance to win that Scruggs player. ha! ha! I would give up a little weight of course. regards to all. OLD SCHOOL RULES !!!
