playing against the ghost revisited..

So I posted this a week or so a go that I had begun playing the ghost in my practice routine. I can honestly say that it helps. I can really feel the pressure to get out and make every ball. Exactly what I wanted it to do. The problem is aside from the first two or three days of doing it I'm beating the ghosts brains in. lol Seriously..I play at least 2 sets a day against the ghost and haven't lost to it since maybe wednesday. Today I played a race to 9 and that did make it a little harder. I was up 8 4 at one point and could feel it a little. I blew and out to let it get to 8 7 but then finished it off the next rack. I'm now thinking of either spotting games to the ghost or taking away any 9 ball combo's. Although I don't seem to make very many 9's on the break I'm also going to take that out also and spot the nine if made on the break or out of turn. do any of you have this problem and had to ratchet it up a few notches in difficulty?

You can come play the 10 ball Ghost in Newburgh NY on table 1, I'll bet on Mr. Ghost all you like! lol

I'm playing on a standard bar box at home. I'm sure if I went down to my local club and played against the ghost on the gold crowns with the pro cut pockets that would change the odds quite a bit. lol

yup, the ghost is a great way to keep from banging balls while practicing. I play the 10 ball ghost 6 ahead sets.....this morning was my new record, it took just under 2 hours to get there. My table is playing perfect right now.....9' GC4, 4-3/8" pockets, 35% humidity, Simonis 860 cloth, Aramith super pros......

my previous best time was almost 3 hours....

another good thing to try is the one pocket challenge like they do at the Derby. My over under goal is 40....real tough!

good luck,

G.

I do this. When I win I get one point. When the ghost wins he gets 2. This is the way I would play the ghost alot of times to get someone to gamble. There are all kinds of ways to spot the ghost to make the game tougher.

Good Luck geno...........

There's one guy on here who will do rack-your-own 9 ball ghost without ball in hand and also spot up any balls that dropped, and take bets on a long race. No BIH is definitely a nice way to ramp up the difficulty.
