Magic Rack

I like the idea since getting older balls to freeze can become a task. How fragile is this template and can it rolled up put in a tube to store in your case?

Rod

yes, it can be rolled up. I met Troy in hong kong and that is how he store his. Awesome rack, 1st hand experience tells me to buy it:)

I was just showing off the rack at Hard Times in Sacramento today and would always make a ball on the break. Those hard core players were just dazzled by how good the rack is.

I also was going to ask about 8-Ball (14.1) racks and was concerned about balls staying on it (thus not letting to remove it) as well as placing a bridge hand or mechanical bridge on the template... This might be suitable for 9-Ball or maybe 10-Ball and might be a good solution if a racking area doesn't let you get a good tight rack - but it should be removed from the table right after the break, IMO. Good if you can mark a ball and do that, but if you have two or more resting on the rack that's a problem.
I'm not trying to jump on a good product which does it's job but it could affect the game (and does affect sometimes like at some tournament it was used for the first time, I don't remember which one but I was posting the screenshots when a ball rolled in a hole and became unplayable).
The less the balls, the less the problems. So 9-Ball okay, 8-Ball no-no, I suppose.

Got mine last Thursday.

I am still testing this product. Results are looking good, but I am curious, if and when, anyone will submit this to the POWERS that be for the official ruling on its acceptance to the pool world.

Currently the ruling in our weekly and monthly tournaments, if you want to use your own Magic Rack you need to get the permission of your opponent for each match and also allow your opponent to use it if they want to. No permission then you cannot use it.

One thing I noticed on the 9 ball rack, when I did play on new cloth and used new balls and I did get a tight rack, the 9 ball stayed in the middle of the rack and did not move unless a ball came off a rail and hit it. From the middle of the head string, if you hit the One ball solid, a ball would come off the end rail and the 9 Ball would get hit and go in the direction of one of the corner pocket in the kitchen.

Also a medium speed hit break, Cut shot would send the One ball into the side pocket more often than not. Slow breaking on these Magic Racks has give me the opportunity to reproduced this Cut shot and the One ball in the side pocket, I like that. I like that alot, especially if I can place the 2 ball in that spot in the rack that will leave me an open table and a shot on the 2. Otherwise I will still have control of the table after the One ball is made by being able to play a 'Push'. Either way, I like not giving up control of the table by breaking dry and leaving my opponent an open table with a good chance of a run out.

Who here is using it and do others have a problem getting other players to use it. At the room I play, some are saying its cheating??? Why getting a perfect rack is cheating, I'm not sure. Why people want to deal with 9's off the break or slug racks, I don't understand.

This thing is giving me a perfect rack every time on tables that don't rack that good. I guess some are happy spending $150 on racks that still won't freeze the balls. Maybe $10 is just too cheap and what they mean is, its stealing.

I ran into some resistance with the Magic Rack. After a couple of the better players had a chance to play some sets with it, they changed their tune.

Most people look at it and try to come up with a half dozen excuses why they don't like it before actually trying to give it a fair try.

I like it, especially when using older balls that are often not the same size.

I think it just takes getting used to it but it seems VERY EFFECTIVE FOR providing a VERY TIGHT rack.

The nine ball on the break didn't budge very often unless another ball came in to the rack after bouncing off or a rail into the 9. One of the better players said he didn't like that. :grin-square: It takes all kinds to make the world go 'round.

Is the durable 8-ball rack ready Troy?

Hi Chino,

The 8 ball rack will launch at VF, Benfica has a sample on the way to him to try, as he is one of my distributors.

Will you come to VF? if so lets hook up, you canpick up some 8 ball MBR's

I agree that this is an improvement on the traditional racks, but you folks need to check out the thread "Euro Tour- why are they racking with their hands...the Rack Spot system is one step better, the rings on the table are thinner than the foot spots and they last longer than the Magic rack

Samurai, have you ever seen a magic rack? i doubt that your system will last longer than mine. I will be at VF lets do a test and see who wins?

I WIll be at the Mezz USA stand, feel free to come along

PS> for your info, euro tour are using tapped tables, there is a difference between tapped and your product.

I hope that your product are reasonable priced, as if you decided to sell these at $20 for a set of 2 templates (Rackspots price in japan) i think your going to be hard pressed. I wish you all the luck

Just wanted to say that I got my magic rack tonight and I had to test it out. I can only second what everyone else has been saying...you have to try it to believe it. This is literally just the best rack out there. It's so easy to rack, it took me maybe 15 seconds the first time and I have never seen it used before.

At < $10 for a 9 and 10-ball rack, you just can't go wrong.

Can't wait Roy. Specially because I live in an area where there is a big BCA 8 ball culture and 1 pocket in Sacramento.

Thanks for the invite, and I will be there, it should be fun and interesting to say the least. My main goal is to bring a product that will help to even out the playing field and to remove the opportunity for those who like to "act up" and use racking as a shark move!

I know that the Euro Tour system is tapped, I found that out the other day.

As far as I am concerned the best racks to date are the Rack Spot and the Magic rack. The Magic Rack has merit, however as I had stated before, it is stilll laid down by human hands so it still leaves room for arguement between the players. With Rack Spot it is permanent and cannot be adjusted so every player gets the SAME rack. As for portability the Magic Rack is a good thing for players who are serious about practising but don't have their own table, they can have it with them at all times.

My goal with Rack Spot is to have it in every poolroom (all rooms in Japan use a combination of the Rack Spot and Magic Rack). All national events in Japan must use the Rack Spot system, where there is no re-rack, because there is no need. The players are still allowed ti inspect the rack but that is all.

Perhaps we should get together and join forces, it could be interesting. BTW who are you?

BTW I believe that Rack Spot will outlast the Magic Rack, and I would put money on it...lol

both systems are are under the balls when you break, the only difference is with the magic rack you can remove it. If you put the other rack on your table incorrectly the first time, thats 9 bucks down the drain.

I think the Rack Spot cost $15.
