Magic Rack

Who here is using it and do others have a problem getting other players to use it. At the room I play, some are saying its cheating??? ...
At the Chet Itow memorial this weekend, there was one player using what looked to be a homemade template. In each match, he had to get his opponent to agree. It seemed to work pretty well -- the nine ball wasn't moving more than a couple of inches. The player with the template was also the youngest player in the tournament at about 14.

I posted a review and it didn't show!

Short form! It really does work. All balls touch every time on bad racking tables. The 9 doesn't move and the rack has little affect on the game if left on table. To remove, I just mark ball or wait until it is pocketed.

Problems: A ball rolling very slow will roll off across the rack. A couple players sliding their bridge hand on the table moved a ball close to the rack.

I also stated that if you bought the rack, based on my review and didn't like it, I would send you the $10. I am talking about balls freezing and the spread. It does it perfectly.

The material is very thin and something like what spots are cut from. It probably will last about the same as cloth. Mine looks new after 200 games or so.

I want to put my input into this product. All I can say is that it is hard to believe how effective this rack works. If I am not mistaken when you rack the balls you want all of the balls to touch not just a couple them or most of them but all of them. I have a diamond pro table with their wooden rack and as hard as I would try I could rarely get all of the balls to come into contact with each other. With the magic rack the balls all fall into place perfectly, all touching as they should and when you break you get the results you should. Someone mentioned something about balls being effected if the were slow rolled across the rack. Simple solution just remove the rack after the break. For ten bucks this is a no brainer. If you are frustrated with the way any table racks then you owe it to yourself to give this a try. I was considering a delta 13 rack, not any more.

Well,
There is no rule that says you can not use that rack. I would like to see a rule on either BCA, APA, WPA that says you can not use this rack.
Mika Immonen uses it all the time. Same thing with Max Eberle and several other players.
Some people says is cheating... How the hell is it cheating to have a perfect rack all the time?
Cheating is using a cheap plastic rack where only 2 or 3 balls touch each other.
I play at Hard Times in Sacramento, an old timers pool hall that hate change and they just love the Magic Rack and there are several older players that actually were sold out on it. Young players love it because it is obvious... perfect rack all the time.
By the way... I carry the Magic Rack as well. Price is $8.50 shipped!

Hey Bob,
I know who you are referring to, and that was not a home made template. That was the real thing. Pm me if you want me to send you the Magic Rack for you to try.

Question

With the new 8 ball version coming out, how would it work for 14.1 and one pocket. Considering the majority of the rack stays in place after the break, and the many slow rollers. Would you guys advise against it or do you think it could actually work for those games?

Kai

Still wondering...

Have you tried the 9 ball version and added the other balls to it to make a full rack. Just curious, it would be awesome if it could be used for those games.

Have you tried it for one pocket or 14.1? Did you experience much roll-off if you did try it? Thanks Jason.

Kai

Having used the Magic Rack extensively for 9 and 10 ball, I would speculate I'd want nothing to do with it for 14.1. I want that rack off the table immediately after breaking. People that don't like the Magic Rack would surely rather play tiddly winks than use it for 14.1.

For 8 ball, I have concerns that due to many more balls in play, you can't feasibly get the magic rack off immediately after the break. That would surely create a higher probability of adversely affecting play.

Maybe Troy will chime in on the pros and cons of the new 8 ball Magic Rack?

KK9 <-- may have an aversion to too much silicone on a rack

I would order from Tony just due to the fact that he offered to send one for someone to try. That's the stuff I love about this forum!
