My guess would be that if Burton or anyone else for that matter, used a Delrin joint collar, it was along the lines of experimentation. How many cues of his do you see today with this collar?
Given the mtrls that we have today, that have proven themselves to be superior to Delrin/Nylon for joint collars, why would you even consider using a mtrl that needs an additional 'locking' system and won't hold finish?
It's like deliberately 'building-in' a condition that will be a headache for someone later on. The newest latest greatest has already been done and it didn't work real well then so why would anyone now think that it's time has come?
One of the objectives of experimentation is that we are supposed to learn from it. I guess that means that we each have to experience it for ourselves before we can believe the already known results. Well, not all of us anyway. Does anyone really believe that this will be an advancement in cue building?
If so, why? I'm truly curious. How do you feel that this mtrl will advance our craft?
Disclaimer : For some reason unbeknownst to me, I tend to rant pretty regularly on Sunday mornings. If it suits you better, we can consider this one of those.
