Anyone have a OB break shaft on a Jump/Brake?

Just wondering how well it jumps with that shaft. I know the tip jumps well because it's the same as the Samsara I just sold.

I thought about buying a Blank OB break and having Andy Gilbert put a collar on to match the cue from him.

I just got one in for my x-breaker and had no problem at all jumping with it. It's the only LD shaft I've been able to jump with. It's also a very forgiving break shaft.

That Samsara tip is pretty amazing.

Thanks... Looks like I will be getting a blank to send Andy for my Jump Break

I like the Samsara tip. I have a (had) Samsara JB04 I just sold it today

When my cue is in being built I thought about sending a OB break shaft to have a matching collar put on the blank. The cues will be a matching set. Playing cue and a Jump Break from Andy Gilbert.

I plan on sending a Pred 314-2 also for the playing cue.

I just bought an OB Break Shaft a couple of weeks ago. For about 3 years, I broke with nothing but Phenolic tips, and the new Samsara Break tip is such a nice change. The shaft breaks hard, but it has a bouncy, forgiving feeling that scatters the balls with ease. I break with about 60% power with this shaft, and I get terrific action. Jumping is now problem. Also, the tip takes the chalk like a regular leather tip.

James,

They're not really known for jumping but you can jump with it. Right now I jump with a phenolic tipped shaft and I find it's a little easier but not as controllable. With this OB it's easy to stop the cue ball on a jump shot.

I jumped with a friend of mine's Stealth AT-1 with a leather tip, and I would say the OB Break shaft is pretty comparable as far as height of jump and controllability. It's also really smooth.

Royce is working on a solid break shaft like the new OB Classic with the short ferrule and he should have that shortly. I'm thinking that would probably be the best of both worlds for a jump/break. It's more rigid on the ferrule end of the shaft - so I'm thinking it might be a little better for a jump/break.

The OB break shaft is great for breaking because it's very forgiving and gives great cue ball control. It really is a thick LD shaft. That extra bit of control helps a lot because the break shot exaggerates any off center hit. I'm sure, like me, you've used a stiff heavy shaft and every once in a while almost miss the entire headball because of cue ball deflection. I'm experimenting with mine right now and so far no missed breaks.

i've jumped with the OB break....it's OK, but not the greatest. my bk2 shaft w/samsara tip jumps much better. i think it's the wood ferrule that makes it not jump as well.

Thanks Sounds like the new shaft will be worth looking into. I have a Samsara and OB break cue. I like the way they both perform. I like the OB a little better for breaking a 8 ball rack. 9 ball there really about the same. I'll give it a shot when it comes out. I will not have my cues from Andy till around Aug anyway.
