There have been a Dozen AZers chosen by Perfect Aim to study and review the Perfect Aim video. Each one of these players has recieved the video and will study it and work at it and share their findings on this thread.

The hardest thing with anything is to learn it from a book or a video. I have learned this with the Perfect Aim video first hand.:scratchhead:

The good news is I have come up with one of the most innovative ways to teach Perfect Aim that has made my personal one on one lessons a piece of cake for the student to understand.:idea2:

This will be kind of an experiment to see how well these 12 AZer's learn this with the new learning technique. Plus it is a way for me to give something back to some AZers firsthand.:yeah:

Also I would like to say that anyone that has bought the Perfect Aim video can call me and I will share this new method with you.:clapping:

My goal is to make sure that everyone that wants to learn Perfect Aim understands it, because if they do they love what it does for their game...

Have a great day everyone and I hope we have some fun with this.

Thanks AZers Geno...:yes::idea::thumbup2::cool:

Hello all,

For those who don't know already, I am one of the lucky few who get to review Gene's method. You can find my preliminary findings in this thread.

Since I have gotten mixed results with the method so far, the review isn't finished yet, and I'm still working with Gene to see if I misunderstood the information he's trying to convey. Either I'm a bit thick, which is entirely possible since so many people have said that of me in the past, or the method isn't working for me (but again, just for me, it could well work for you), but I'll know for sure in a few days.

In any case, I'd like to express my thanks to Gene for taking the time and expense of letting me review his work. I admire him for letting his method loose on skeptics such as me, and accepting whatever reviews come out of the experience, good or bad. That alone should tell you he really has faith in his method, and it is a big reason why I'm still trying to integrate it into my own game after my initial failure to use it.

Stay tuned for more on the Perfect Aim method, as I finally have time to call Gene and work with the method further.

I'm one of the lucky 12 that was chosen to receive, use, and then review the Perfect Aim system. It's hard for me to rate my current skill level, but I think I can safely dub myself as average/slightly above average if compared to the spectrum of 'more than casual' pool players. I guess it's hard to rate yourself unless you're a stone champion or really horrible :(

Once I get through the video and exercises, I'll post a review in this thread.

Thanks again Geno :)

First of all, I would like to thank Gene for the opportunity to review his product. I just received the DVD yesterday, and watched a little bit of it, but haven't gotten a chance to get to the table. When I get home tonight I will put the DVD in and try and apply it while I'm at the table. I am one of the lucky ones with a table in the house.

My skill level right now would be average-above average. I can run some racks, but definitely not consistently. I'll try and give an update as much as possible to show how/if this effects my game.

Here's a list of AZers reviewing Perfect Aim............

Perfect Aim

Gene,

Your delivery on AZ Billiards is primo. It's almost as good as your delivery on the pool table.

I continue to be impressed with your positive contributions to pool.

Pool needs more people like GenoMachino!

For those that don't know Gene, he is a MONSTER on the pool table.

The tips you get talking to him on the phone are worth the price of the video, let alone the tips that he shares right here on the Main Forum.

As this post indicates I am one of the lucky few who have received the Perfect Aim video to try out and see if it would help my game.

Here is a little background first. I have shot in an APA league for the past year and a half. I am an SL 4 so that would indicate I am an average pool player with a ton of room to improve. I have never had a lesson from any coach (certified or non certified) nor have I ever purchased anything related to teaching anything about pool. One day I felt that I had taken my game as far as it could go and I felt I was in need of some help if I was going to get any better. Question was where do I get this help from?? I came to these forums asking for help and what I should do to get better (you can find the posts somewhere I am sure). Some people had recommended picking up this DVD or that DVD, in the past I have tried to learn other things from DVDs (such as learning how to play the guitar, bowling, softball hitting mechanics DVD's etc etc) so when it came to pool I felt how much could I REALLY learn by watching some pro or some guy who was 100x better then I on a DVD make shot after shot. Even with him telling me what to do or what to work on I would learn nothing just like in the past with everything else I tried to learn.

So in pops Gene with the offer to send me Perfect Aim for free to try it out and see if it helps my game out any. He offers to go over everything over the phone and be available anytime I had any questions or concerns. I had heard of Perfect Aim in the past but never wanted to buy it because of the above reasons. So I felt this would be great since I am a blank slate, I have no bias towards one method or another I would give this an honest try and tell everyone what I thought.

I watched the DVD twice and at first it can be overwhelming there is a lot of information. I will say this and put it in bold caps so everyone can see "PERFECT AIM IS NOT AN AIMING SYSTEM!!! what I mean by this is that it's not a gimmick or a trick or a complicated system to learn. With out giving too much info away on the dvd in it's simplest of form it takes how your eyes naturally work and shows you how to use that to line up a pool shot. No tricks, no secrets it's that simple. If you have watched the DVD you'll understand, for those who have not, think about every other sport on the planet, someway shape or form you have to adjust your eyes to what your doing. When I played baseball we had to learn how to use our vision to zero in on the ball so we could actually hit the ball to where we wanted to hit it. If you couldn't see what you were swinging at how could you put the ball where you wanted to put it? This DVD will teach you how to get your eyes in the right position so you can line up any shot on the table perfectly giving yourself the BEST chance to make any shot.

Now with that said just because you line up a shot perfectly and have it dead on track aimed DOESN'T mean you'll always make your shot. There are a ton of other factors that go into shot making ability. If your a player who has a very inconsistent stroke no matter how perfect you get a shot lined up your going to miss more then you make. Is that the fault of this DVD? absolutely not! If your a player who has good mechanics but has trouble lining up a shot (or your not always sure if you have a shot lined up correctly) this DVD will help a lot. To use another analogy: I can put a rifle in your hand and teach you how to look through the scope and get your shot lined up perfectly, but if you don't know how to the many other things that go along with shooting a rifle your not going to hit your target many times.

I personally think this DVD can help any level or skill of player if they have an open mind. Having the confidence that you have the ability to get down on a shot and know that you have it 100% lined up perfectly will increase your shot making ability, it also eliminates that unsure feeling when you missed a shot that you didn't have it lined up correctly. I am not going to say if you buy this DVD in 2 days your going to be a pro shooter that would be total BS! You need to practice, practice, practice just like anything in life to get better at it.

So personally since I have watched the DVD and talked with Gene I am much more confident when I get down on a shot. I am hardly hesitant anymore. Think of this: Have you ever stood back seen what you wanted to shoot at then went down to shoot it but once you got down there you had to readjust a few times? maybe shift your body or move the stick a tad left or right so the shot looks good again? Then you shoot and then you miss and then you wonder what happen? I used to do that all the time because the shot never looked right to me and I wasn't confident that what I was aiming was right. Now I every time I get down on a shot I am confident what I am seeing is correct I trust what my eyes are telling my brain and I am making shots much more consistently then before. Do I still miss?? of course I do! but when I miss now I know why I missed and can adjust accordingly my next shot.

In conclusion I feel this is a GREAT DVD to own. I also feel it is just one part to your pool game (the dvd has some other great info in there about knowing how much of a ball to hit on cut shots etc) I am glad I was able to get a copy from Gene for free because I never would have bought this DVD with my previous mindset that I could never learn from a DVD and I would have been worse off for it! I am still going to take some lessons from some certified coach to get my mechanics worked out a bit (stroke, stance, cue ball control) I think the knowledge in Gene's DVD is must see for everyone. Some people will get it right away, others it will take them longer to get it and they'll have to keep working at it, then there will be those who just dismiss it completely because what they do works best for them and always has. There is no right or wrong. If you feel you have trouble lining up a shot this is the DVD you need to see!

Lastly any of the guys who Gene sent the DVD too needs help understanding something or is having trouble with doing something in the DVD and you talked to gene but still need some help or have questions or want to ask me what I've done to get it to work for me, anything just PM me.

Thanks for the chance to review the DVD Gene!

I received my dvd a few days ago, and have had a chance to breifly look it over. But havent really had a chance to study the dvd and put the info into place.

Through talking with Gene, others on AZ, and another instructor that Gene had spoken with I already had a base understanding of what was involved. I jumped at the chance to review the dvd, as I have always felt some questions that I have asked "traditional" instructors and researched through books have never been answered as well as I felt they could or should be.

Ill write a review as soon as Ive had a chance to give the dvd the attention it deserves and worked with the information a bit.

who is #12?

Who is #12?

I noticed th las t place on your list was left blank. Is it still open?

I would love to volunteer for this project if it is still open.

I will be open minded, honest and thorough. I am always interested in learning new things and am willing to give this one serious consideration.

I have been curious about this dvd from the start, and have seen much on both sides. Would like to know from firsthand experience and not just from things I have heard from someone else.

Thanks,

Jason

I am waiting for it to come in the mail and will give an honest review of it for sure whether it is good or bad. I have been using an aiming method very recently and have saw some positive results using the shaft method, not sure of how this will play into what I am currently using.

You'll see the value........

Hi there Lenny,

I watched you shoot while I was down there in Phoenix last fall. Your down low on the cue and this enables you to get the eyes real close to this perfect spot.

Your very knowledgeable about the game. Your adjustments will be very minor but the results you get should be huge.

Looking forward to working with you.

Talk to you later geno............

The truth about Perfect Aim! - Today, 08:57 PM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am posting this here on my own as I did not want to hijack Genes thread , I want everyone to know I was already going to post this before Genes post. This is my own review and not one that Gene has asked for.

My review of Perfect Aim

Well A few weeks ago I spoke with Gene about his Perfect Aim system, I told him I wanted to teach it to my son Manny Perez.

As some of you may know Manny Just won a National title at the VNEA International Jr pool championships this Past Summer.

He took 1st place in team championships and 1st place in the individual Artistic pool championship, He also took 5-6th in the

Singles championship. All this at 11 years old.

Well after speaking with Gene we decided, That Perfect Aim would be a great addition to the Aiming system I taught Manny.

The reason being is this, lets teach him Perfect Aim, and give him all the tools he needs to become a great player. Well Let

me tell you this, What Gene is teaching is so simple that it is easy to learn.

Manny is asorbing the information and Gobbling up players faster than a Pacman on Steroids!

Now to be Honest Manny still has his bad days but his good days far out number the bad . With learning Genes system he has

taken down some better players out here at shooters in olathe ks, and around town in tournament play. Now he by no

means is a world beater yet, But he looks like maybe he will get there someday if he continue to use Genes system .

Ok, now for my personal take and review of Perfect Aim.

1st Off I think Gene did a great job with the DvD, Maybe it is not as polished as a professionally done DvD , But than again

I don`t think It was that far off. I found it to be easy to navigate with lessons broken down into steps.

I did not have any trouble with understanding what Gene was explaining as some have posted before. I found the info easy and

quick to understand. Plus with the option to call and ask Gene for clarification I thought that made it even better.

Now, Once I reviewed Perfect Aim, I did place a call to Gene just to hear from him If what I was understanding was the same

thing he was trying to instruct. turns out it was.

Ok, Now here is a breakdown of the Perfect Aim DVD.

Introduction:

Gene starts out with a 3 minute intro about Perfect Aim. Here he explains why most people are inconsistant in their pool

game when it comes to pocketing balls. He he explains a bit about what makes Perfect Aim work.

It is also a introduction to the rest of the DvD, Gene goes briefly as to what info is contained in the next chapters. And a

little history about Perfect Aim.

Chapter 1

Here 2 basic things are explained by Gene in order for you to use Perfect Aim correctly, Both seem to have to do with

bridging and stroking the cue correctly. Though this is a quick little step, I found it useful.

My opinion:

I find it to be true and accurate.

length 3:01

chapter 2

Deals with trying to find your dominate eye, And Gene gives several good examples On this , Which really helps to find which

eye is dominate. It is crucial to Know this in order to learn Perfect Aim. Gene says once you learn this then it will be

easier to understand the Perfect Aim system. This also talks about your left eye and right eye and exactly how to use them in

this Perfect Aim system.

My opinion:

Awsome! I never knew all of this.

length: 3:09

Chapter 3

In this step Gene goes into detail about the straight in shot and how your eyes come into play when lining this shot up. He

gives exact details as to how to line up for this shot, so that you can continue with Perfect Aim.

My opinion:

Just great! I continued to listen and learn.

Length: 2:44

chapter 4

Deals with short thin cut shots to the left and right , And how you should approach each shot in order for you to know you

are lined up correctly, the way you should be for the Perfect Aim system. This in itself is worth the price of the dvd.You

will learn to cut the ball in the pocket with ease , All it takes is a little practice.. In no time Manny was cutting razor

thin shots into the pocket.

My opinion:

Here I really began to believe in Perfect Aim. What is shown here is amazing, Now we know how to thin slice a ball.

Length: 2:40

chapter5

Similar to the previous step only this time it deals with long thin cuts and how to acheive proper alignment. Gene also goes

into detail about how crucial this alignment is for Perfect Aim, and takes the time to explain why.

My opinion:

Same as above, I thought thinning a long thin cut was over for me, Gene showed me it is`nt.

Length: 3:19

chapter6

During this excercise Gene does gives several examples on the different cut shots and how to practice them all, till you get

a good understanding of the various cuts. Genes spends several minutes explaining how to setup drills and do them in order to

accomplish this part of the Perfect Aim system. Gene brings in a laser to help show how it can be used in doing the drills

explained here. Also incuded is one of Genes special parts he added to the video.

My opinion:

I found this excercise to be fun an exciting to do as both Manny an I saw each ball drop into the pocket with ease.

Length: 11:21

chapter 7

Gene gives a little secret, which is a very good example on how to find the part of the object ball to hit.

My opinion:

I like this, good for some beginners and even more advanced players who might just want a little assurance that their aim is

right.

Length: 2:47

chapter 8

Here Gene goes into detail about fractional aiming and how to use angles to figure out the fractions on the object ball to

hit. I personally found this part interesting , But not necessary for me as I found it too difficult, if not time consuming

to do. Use it only in practice, to become proficient at aiming. Which I`m sure is what it is intended for.

My opinion:

As stated above Use it in practice if needed , Mostly for beginners.

Length: 11:05

chapter 9

Gene shows the proper way to shoot while your jacked up either against the rail or another ball while using the Perfect Aim

system.

Gene also includes how to do a jump shot acurately with Perfect Aim.

My opinion:

Valuable Info, Be sure to look at this part. They could win you a game or match.

Length: 3:10

chapter 10

Deals with the straight in shot while against the rail and how Perfect Aim will help you make this difficult shot

consistantly and accurately.

My opinion:

I think this shot will help me in my game as I myself found this shot somewhat difficult from time to time.

Length: 2:43

chapter 11

Here Gene shows how Perfect aim can be used when aiming at a spot rather than an object ball. Such as when aiming for a kick

shot.

My opinion:

I think this piece here is useful, could explain why I was somtimes missing my kicks.

chapter 12

The review:

Here Gene recaps all that he showed in his video, a quick simple review. He explains why and how certain shots will help your

pool game.

Ok! Overall I found Genes video very helpful, As I mentioned earlier I recieved it from Gene in order to teach it to my son

Manny who at age 11, already plays pretty darn good. In watching this Perfect Aim video I found the information unique and

very useful for anyones game. I myself use an aiming system which I taught my son Manny and did`nt think I would use this ,

but upon review of the video I realized I would be crazy not to. In all honesty I found this Perfect Aim system is helping

my son Manny and myself. Manny has steadily improved in areas where he struggled some. And I am not afraid to admit so have

I.

So for those of you still unsure, or are on the fence I strongly suggest you get this Perfect Aim DVD an if possible get

Genes personal lesson. Gene, I find to be a great guy who really wants pool players to learn all they can so their game may

improve and is not just out to make a quick buck.

So please decide for yourself buy getting this Perfect Aim video as I give it a 2 thumps up!

In closing let me say that I will post a few videos of my son Manny playing or in practice from time to time to show how

Perfect Aim is helping him.

Today would be a good day............

Hi there Mike,

Just letting you know and all the other guys that today would be a great day to call and ask questions and make sure everything is right. It will be easier to communicate on here to let everyone know.

I know you have the special ball Mike and I want to stress to everyone else how important they are. This is what is Making Perfect Aim so much easier to understand. They are a must.

Anyone else that has Perfect Aim please send me a message and I will get this new info to you. First time ever info ever anywhere.

If your trying to contact me and can't just put a message on here.

Good Luck everyone.. Thanks geno.................

Hello everyone. Guinea pig #14 here. I have not received the DVD yet but I did speak with Geno on the phone for about an hour. He coached me via speakerphone while I was at my table. I then practiced for about an hour and I feel like I can already see some shots more clearly. My left cuts are going to need more practice, but I at least know what I am looking for. I think I am the perfect candidate to learn this method as I have never been tutored on pool before, and I need more than a little fine tuning. Geno also went over a pre-shot routine with me that has helped already as well. I will post back as my game progresses or deteriorates, whatever the case may be.
Thanks for the chance Geno, Ron

I have had the Perfect Aim DVD now for about a month. Before I get into the review I'll give a little background of my ability before I started with perfect aim.

I have been playing pool pretty seriously for about three and a half years now. I haven't done a lot of league and tournament play due to my tours in Iraq, but even the times I was deployed I still played a good amount. The longest time I went during the last three and a half years without picking up a cue was about 3 weeks to a month maybe. Most of my play has been on valley bar boxes, but there was a few months where I played on nine footers quite a bit. I can run racks of 8 and 9 ball here and there, and my best I have ever done is 3 racks of bar box 8 ball in a row. So I did have somewhat of a foundation before Perfect Aim. That being said I will say first of all that Perfect Aim is NOT for complete beginners. You have to know the basic fundamentals of stance, bridge, grip, and stroke before Perfect Aim will do anything for you. If you have a crooked stroke before Perfect Aim, you're still going to have a crooked stroke, and you're still going to miss. I do think though that if you have a solid repeatable stroke, you can benefit from Perfect Aim.

So after I got the DVD I watched it a couple of times, and I will admit that I found it a little bit difficult to understand. I waited a few days and then I called Gene, and he explained some things to me and it made a little bit more sense. I still didn't quite grasp it, and I didn't see much if any effect on my game.

Let's fast forward to last night now. I am lucky in that I live fairly close to Gene. Since Gene had to stop in my town yesterday he also made a stop at my house. In the lesson he gave me we went through everything that was on the dvd and some things that weren't. With Gene's guidance, and doing everything that was on the dvd I was able to finally grasp what he was trying to teach. When we were finished we played some games of 9 ball, which of course meant I got to watch Gene run a bunch of
balls;). I will admit that I didn't see much difference in those games, but of course I didn't see the table a lot, and I think that in focusing so much on my eyes and head, I might have thrown my stroke off a bit. After he left though I practiced a little more and ran a couple racks of nine ball.

So I have been home for two months now, and when I first cam home I stayed at my dad's house where he has a valley bar box, and I have played in a few tournaments in the past two months and it was all on valley bar boxes. So for the past two months that was all I played on until last week when I moved out, and Ihad a pinnacle eight footer installed last Thursday. So today I practiced some more of what Gene showed me, and did a few drills until I got bored and decided to do a race to 5 with the ghost which I have NEVER won, even on my dad's valley. Well today I am happy to say that I not only beat the ghost, but I beat him 5 to 1 on the first try. So in other words, the first day after I worked with Gene I feel that I am playing better pool.

Now I know it sounds like I didn't get a lot out of the DVD and only improved after workimg with Gene one on one, but I do have some recommendations for people, that if I would have done I believe I would have seen results. You should do everything that Gene does in the DVD. Practice it all, and try out all the little extra things he shows you. Also use all the same props that he uses. I believe that if I would have done these things I would have seen results before working with Gene, and of course as with anything, you have to put the practice time in for it to work.

I will keep posting on here as my game gets better or if it stays the same from here, but as of right now I am enjoying Perfect Aim.

Here's another update for today. I have even played some racks of nine ball without taking bih, and I haven't been keeping track but I know that I've broke and ran more racks of nine ball today than I have in my life. I even did two in a row a couple times, which I had never done before.
