So I finally got my first custom cue! After the fiasco with Jim Lee, I contacted Jon Spitz out of Chicago about doing something a little simpler, like a fancy pete. The cue weighs 18.6oz, is made up of a hoppe style bumperless cocobolo butt, curly maple forearm, Black G10 3/8x10 Radial Pin, an old growth shaft, ivory ferrule, and Kamui MSII tip.

Super figured cocobolo Hoppe style bumperless butt. I love the figure and color of this wood!

The joint. What I thought was impressive about this, was that he got the spacing and twist right, so that the ring work lines up when the cue is screwed together.

Thats awesome! Right up my alley. Looks a lot like my Sugar Tree but with Coco. Nice!

not so sneaky with that crazy coco wood....looks great

Super nice looking cue sir. Love the cocobolo & the curly maple forearm.
Thanks for sharing the pics & congrats on your new cue.

That is absolutely gorgeous!!! I love fancy sneakys :) May I ask where the blank was obtained?......love that it has high points with sick wood combo. Please let me konw..in pm if need to be private. Nice cue.

Congrats thats one hell of a s. pete, wow. everything IMO is the way I like it and looks very very wel done. You should really consider a second shaft for a cue like this-if it was just a chopped house cue 1 shaft is fine, but if you end up really like how it plays and you know your not going to be looking for a different cue as a player-get a second shaft you'll be glad you did.:)

a closeup of the butt would be cool...I'd like to see that badboy up close ;)

Please let me know about the blank...where it came from.

Now THAT is cocobolo as it should be!! John did you right with this cue...being a full splice freak, I can honestly say I am jealous. Eric is correct...better get a 2nd shaft for that bad boy ASAP.

As to the blank...either Mr Spitz crafted this himself...or there are a VERY limited number of places that this blank could have been procured from. Bell Forest (Mark Bear blank) or perhaps even Prather or John Davis. I say this because the quality of the woods used are exceptional, the curly is darn near perfect and coco is highly figured.

merlin, you should be quite proud, and congratulations!!!

Honestly, I don't have any idea where the blank came from. I sent Jon a description of what I wanted the cue to look like along with a few pictures, then just waited. Send him a PM and see what he says. I'll try to snap some more pictures of the cue later this week, as well as do a writeup on how it plays.

Wow, it doesn't get any more figured than that. Very cool and I bet you like the way coco and maple play together.

This one stands out as one of the most beautiful and tasteful sneeky petes I have ever seen. Nice design and choice of materials
