Hush about the prices! I want an Olney BAD and currently can't justify spending the money, but it's a lot easier to justify $400-$600 than it is $1000+!

I had an Olney years ago. I won it at one of Rhea's tournaments - at the time they were being held at a bowling alley there in Des Moines. It was donated by Jeff (mighty generous of him!) so I don't know what it would have cost, but his prices have always been more than reasonable. It sat in a case unused for months, maybe years, before I played with it (it didn't have the "look" I was after - I was a shallow and uneducated player back then) but once I started to use it I absolutely loved it. His cues are so well balanced and they hit beautifully!

But then I made another shallow and uneducated choice and started playing with something else (it was an offer I couldn't refuse!) and I wound up selling my Olney. I have regretted it ever since. :(
 
I've come to the conclusion that if I moved to Des Moines, i'd be the most sane person in that city. Do you know how sad that is?!! LOL
 
Well this has been fun as usual, but I have better things to do than sit here making Mike Athens look bad. And besides, he does a good enough job of it all by himself.

After reading this thread, actually I was, lol. I just feel slighted in life. If I would have known how sick you people in Iowa are, I would have majored in psychology and moved to Des Moines. I'd make enough in 10 years to retire for life, lol.
 
I would guess slipstream is someone who doesn't like the Richardsons and Jamie according to two of his three total posts.

No but in the races to 15 he routinely jumped out something like 13-6 one time and 7-2 or something the other set. Thank god he can't close. He beat Theo to death and I do mean death. Eric and Ron played even, if that kid figures out how to close a set out he's gonna be a monster for a long time in this state, he just turned 21 I believe.

@Karla: I have been thinking about picking up a good backup cue and all I know is if these Olney's keep popping up cheap like this I might have to get one. I know guys who pay more for Sneaky Pete's than these cues are costing.
 
I just told Whitey about the tourney on the 1st at Big Dog's...hopefully he comes up for it! So, who will be the ref for that tourney? Might be fun to see Athens play Whitey some! I wonder if Mike would play Whitey for some cash? Anyway, if things go right it should be a fun weekend :)
 
When is that 8-Ball tournament and what are the details? There were fliers in Davenport but I was always too busy to actually read one.

Jody posted it on Facebook, and I guess had fliers up at Davenport. Handicapped 8-ball tourney May 1st at Big Dog's. $30 entry, race to 7, 6, 5, 4. Pros are 7 -1.Noon start I believe.

Please let me draw Mike Athens first!!!

Okay if you play Athens at any point during this tournament and you guys are playing an even race, I will sweat it and take Athens for any bet between $10-$50 so you can scratch your itch. That's the best I can offer you.
