I recently acquired a Meucci 97-32 Crown Jewel cue locally and had a question that I sent in to Meucci for elaboration. I don't know how long it will take, or if they will even reply, but I know there are lots of knowledgeable & helpful people here on AZB, so here is my question to you;
While playing the other night in my local APA league bar, another player noticed it and said that it had real platinum & gold in some of the inlay work (the sword specifically, see picture attached). I know it is a production cue, Meucci's most expensive retail production cue in thier line at that, and I'm not sure how many were actually produced, but it is a magnificent design and a beautiful cue in my opinion.
I know there were some of the originals (pre-production)that had lots of Ivory in them and the one that was made for Jim Rempe had actual gemstones inlayed in it.
My question is this; Is there any truth to what the other player said about the precious metals, are there any exotic materials actually used in the Butt/Sleeve of this model, or is all of the delicate inlay work where the bulk of the production cost come from in this particular cue? Also does anyone know how many were actually produced?
Thank you.
