Heya guys,

I do believe that is the LONGEST I've ever taken to pick out a cue...but the wait was SO worth it.

This is my new 2009 Bob Runde cue.

I was fortunate enough to be able to meet up with the AZB'er who sold this cue to me...and he's one of the nicest guys you could ever want to meet.

SCCues...you are the man!

I was also fortunate enough to get a fair amount of time to look this cue over right after the transaction...since he wouldn't let me actually shoot with it!!! Note to self...do NOT play SCCues on the barbox ever again. EVER!

This beauty of a cue rings in at a solid 19.3-19.4 ounces, depending on the shaft (both of which are over 4.2oz). Dead-nuts straight. Dead-nuts new.

This is EXACTLY the kind of cue I was hoping for...and I could not be happier. As far as "last cues" go...I found myself a winner.

A HUGE "thank you" to SCCues. I very much appreciate the deal, sir...and it was a sincere pleasure meeting you. I figure since you stole my hopes and dreams on the barbox, I could steal your pics to show it off!! Fair is fair, right? ;) :)

Wow! Love me some wrapless! If it plays half as good as it looks, congrats on an awesome cue. I love it! :thumbup:

Heya sir,

I wish I knew! I bought a pretty plain Phillippi sneaky from Rick's shop about a year ago that had this type of wood (I think). Bama should be able to chime in...he had one or two of Rick's cues with this same wood, too.

Whatever it is, it's WICKED. It has a shiny luster to it under the lights...and has subtle swirls, contrasts, and such to it that I am WAY too stupid to try and describe. It looks sharp as hell against the curly maple.

This thing plays. I had to leave town and find a different table...away from SCCues...to find that out!! :D:D:o Once I figured the cue out, it just started to flow.
 
Runde

Nice pick up. I've heard from lots of people that Runde makes a really nice hitting cue. Course, he's been making cues forever. Looks like the perfect player's cue. :thumbup:
 
Beauty of a cue Mark & congrats are in order as well.
I guess you won`t be needing that ''Searing'' cue any more correct? LOL

If you got that within your posted budget, I'd say you got a huge bargain for sure.
Hell, the shafts are nearly half of what you were looking to spend!

Thanks much for all the kind words, guys.

It's never taken me longer than a couple days to find my next "new" cue...so going almost a full week was sure an adventure. I had tons of folks offer up some really nice cues...with excellent prices, too.

I knew I would just "know it" when I found the right cue for me...and I sure did with this one. I've always liked Runde's work...and the figure in the point/handle wood is so sweet, it doesn't bother me in the slightest that it's wrapless. After hitting with it for a couple hours last night, I figured out how to adjust the grip a bit so the missing wrap isn't really noticeable.

I think me and my road cue are due for a marathon session today. Can't wait!!

I DO have one question...hopefully one that the Runde experts can answer for me. I know the ferrules are not ivory...but they do have ivory-ish grain to them. I'm thinking they are Micarta...but not absolutely sure. They do have that yellowish tint to them...and the grain runs from the tip to the wood. Any ideas regarding what this material might be????

You could not have made a better choice IMO. That is a beautiful Runde. I love wrapless cues and Bob Runde's cue are great. First dibs if you ever decide to sell.
 
Great looking cue Mark! I am glad you found a "road" cue that makes you smile. Hopefully there is a nice poolhall where you can take out your other cue. If not, you can spend a weekend up in CT and try out my new Diamond table. Then we can put all of our cues through their paces. ;) I only have wrapless cues for now, but I got a bunch coming!!!

Mark, why not just give Bob Runde a call. You could then ask about the woods, the ferrule material, and anything else you'd like to know about the cue. He does use ivory for ferrules sometimes.

Well I just found this thread and it makes me feel good to sell someone a cue and then hear how happy they are with it. I saw Mark's thread saying he was looking for a "road cue" and I didn't think at first to send him some info and pictures of my Runde. The Runde sounded like exactly what he was looking for and the next time I saw his thread I sent him a PM with the pictures. He responded pretty fast and things worked out with the sale. Mark drove down from NC and met me in Summerville, SC (just outside of Charleston, SC). My deal with Mark couldn't have gone smoother and it was a pleasure meeting him and playing a few games of 9 ball! I know that i'll be sorry I let that nice cue go, but it couldn't have gone to a nicer person.

We played some 9 ball on bar boxes and Mark was at a disadvantage since he was playing with a new cue and I know it takes time to get the feel of it. I hope to meet some of the other AZ members one day and if they are as nice as Mark we'll have a great time.

I'd also like to put a plug in for Bob Runde cues. I think Bob's cues are outstanding and under priced compared to some of the cues selling for many times more $$$........

Ummmm....yeah! That's why I lost so many games...it was because of the new cue!!! That's it, exactly!! Couldn't possibly be that you're much better than me, right? Right!!?!?!?! :eek::grin:

I logged quite a few hours with the cue last night...and had a ton of fun. I'm slowly starting to make the adjustment...and it is a great playing cue. The hit feels fantastic...even when I miss (not to say that I miss that much, of course :rolleyes: ).

Once again, James, I thank you, sir. Gonna take it out again today!

Hiya sir,

I tried. I looked up Mr. Runde's contact info, and tried to give him a call. The number I had for him has been disconnected.

I know the ferrules are not ivory. Had enough cues to be able to tell that, at least. I DON'T know if they are Micarta. I want to say that they are...but with so many materials out there that look somewhat alike, I figured I stand a 50/50, at best.

I put a feeler out to a guy that deals with Mr. Runde on a semi-regular basis...and hope to hear something back soon.
