Brunswick 360 cue

Hi Chris,
It does appear to be the original joint configuration but I do not know for a fact, however, if you google brunswick 360 cue, one of the first things that comes up is an old for sale add from chalkers.com for a 360 that claims to be all original, the joint configuration matches the one on my cue. (click on the link that says click here for more detail pics to see joint)
I posted the pics of that all original cue's joint here.

The pin looks wrong to me, the pins on Brunswick cues from this era had pointed pins not rounded, in addition the thread pitch doesn't look right either. That aside the cue is certainly beautiful, and a wonderful collectible even if the joint work is not original.

If I were you I would contact Jim Buss and ask him what restoration he did on the cue. If you need some help contacting Jim let me know I know him personally and would be glad to help you contact him.

Take care

Edited: After I made the above post I did some additonal research and checked a number of my Brunswick catalogsform the 20's and the 30's. The 360 model cues were made until the late 1930's and the pin and joint on the pictured cue are correct for one of the later model 360 cues. I also agree that the cue looks to be completely in original condition according to the photo's provided.

I also noticed that you mentioned Chalkers.Com, be very careful dealing with that site in anyway. The site is owner and operated by Martyne S. Bachmen and she is notorious in this business for bad bad deals. Before you do any business with her or that site contact member Cuaba (Brad Simpson Blue Book of Cues) he can give you a better low down.

Take care

This may be a converted one-piece cue (model 36) or a 360 that was broke and repaired. I say this because I have handled a few of these and the second set of points are not complete at the top.

what is that suppose to mean?
are you alluding to a future endeavor:smile:

Yes, but don't tell anyone.:D It has been a side project of mine for a while. I am working on custom dying the veneers to match original cues. I have a few people who have butts without a matching shaft so I am going to try to match up the colors for them. I was shooting to have one done for valley forge this year but with my eye thing it did not happen.

My thought as well. Is this cue for sale, or just for show?

The pin looks right to me but I don't see the 5/16 X 12 brass insert in the butt end. That confuses me a bit. I have a bunch of old Brunswick parts including the original butt inserts used in making these cues.

I've always thought that these are the most beautiful production cues ever. That's why I love Russian butterflies.

The Brunswick model 360's were gorgeous and for a production cue, maybe the toughest to manufacture.

It was also an inspiration to this Fanelli butterfly... Mark went for color with the rosewood.
