What's the status on this years voting? Have the ballots gone out yet? When's the deadline to turn them in? Is there a list of nominees that are voted for or do you write in the names of those you want?

What are Jose Parica's chances this year? Good I hope!

Jay, I know you get a ballot. Chime in please.

Thanks.

Ballots are not out yet. Last year we voted at the end of May, so it should be soon.

Yes and yes. Last year we started with the previous year's list. Mike Panazzo asked the members to suggest other names to add to the list. First time candidates like Allison and Johnny were obvious additions to the list as they both had turned 40 by the time the voting came about.

I don't know which first time ballot players are going to be on this year. IMO, he'll stand the best chance to get in if there are no first time names (due to age minimum). He did fairly well last year, just not enough. There are discussions of adding different categories that may give him a better chance (e.g., similar to the one pocket HoF when the Action category was added).

The way I understand it, you can vote for as many names as you want. So in a year like last year, with JA and AF in the mix, I can see where Jose may not have gotten enough votes. What I mean is that, if I were a voting member, my thinking might be that these are two stand out names so I might not vote for anyone else in order not to dilute my vote for Johnny and Allison. Perhaps if there are not several stand outs on the list this year it will help his chances.

Or maybe that's not how it works. Do you have to get a certain number of votes, or is it a matter of being named on a certain percentage of the ballots? Is there a limit to how many can get in for a given year? How exactly is it determined? Approximately how many ballots are cast?

I certainly think Jose deserves to be in, he really is the Godfather of PI pool. Hopefully it will happen sooner rather than later.

Appreciate your support of Jose in last year's vote. ;)

This is also my thinking. Plus, I'm thinking that voters may have forgotten about Jose' while these two obvious first ballot inductees were on the list.

Just like major league baseball, the top vote getter named gets in while anyone who is named on at least 75% of the ballits also gets in.

Approximately how many ballots are cast?
The vote is now done by the US Billiard Media Association (about 30 members) plus about 5 "at large" voters that the members vote on . http://www.usbma.com

Bump for an update on the status of the voting.

Have ballots gone out and when is (was) the deadline to turn them in? Also, any idea on when the results are announced?

Thanks!

Double D

I think Jose Parica is a lock for the HOF
But....DANNY DILIBERTO is at the front of the line

I think that Ralf Souquet is in his first year of eligibility or else he was last year and Johnny got the nod first. He has to be a lock. Jose and Danny are definitely the other top two I would vote for.

Last year it was JA and AF, this year Ralf and Danny? I guess there will always be someone in front of Parica as far as some people are concerned, but should there be really?

Aside from the fact the guy has won countless tournaments over decades and continues to be competitive against much younger players in their prime, the guy is the Godfather of Pinoy pool.

To the voting members: Come on guys, this should be the year!

Daily double

Diliberto and Parica both making it this year would suit me just fine.
They both got amazing credentials....
...and hearts the size of grand pianos
