I'm liking these construction sharing threads. No negative comments! We all do it different.

I'm working some veneers now and will take pictures and explain how I do it.

Please share your veneer construction.

I glue mine up with west system and cut my mitter with a table saw and the use of a jig that I made .

I use a jig and the table saw also. It's against the rules but I cut the opposite direction threw my table saw. Doing this cuts toward the point and doesn't chip.

There's lot of little details to keep the points sharp.

How do you prepare you points? Do you glue the veneers to the point first? Veneers are not easy to get perfect. Let's help the builders looking to start building them.

Veneers

I glue my veneers with titebond ....seems to work fine. I cut on a table saw useing double faced tape to hold the veneer....I put the veneers in a piece of angled aluminum once they are taped together.....some pics

I cut the 45 degree angle on one side like you do, but I do it with a router while holding the veneers in a little jig.

Old habits

Chris ...I use a table saw for everything. But I'v tried the router as well and I have both setups.....I just love the table saw :D:D:D...old habits I guess........Ray Weeks

Very true Ray, I do however like using a sled with hold downs. I talked to one maker who said the only way he could do clean miters on a table saw would be if he bought a Laguna for like 7G's. I said, I'll stick to my $50.00 1960 rockwell. Sometimes, it's not always the machine. ;)

So True

Mike, As with most thing some think they can buy the experience or talent .....NOT SO .....I could by a $2000.00 fender strat that don't make me Eric Clapton.......Ray Weeks:D

lol. i have paid 2000$ for strat and im deff not eric clapton

i use table saw. titebond III for the veneers or elmers ultimate. i switched to elmers ultimate last year bc it doesnt warp the veneers when it dries they stay flat. cut my miters. use masking tape as a hinge to glue up my 45 then glue 3 pieces together foearm veneer and inner point
