I know there was a warning from the moderators a while back about name calling. Then a lot of back and forth about how the tourney at Big Dogs was ran last weekend. I've been following this thread for almost a year and though there been alot of stuff on it that is of no interest to me I still liked to check in every day or so just to fined out what was going on in Des Moines I hope someone will start a new thread that will keep us up to date on the pool scene in Des Moines without all the drama.

Your guess is as good as ours!!! The last post in the thread was from the owner of Big Dogs Billiards and I felt like he handled himself well in that post. That leads me to believe he was not the cause of the thread being closed. My guess is no one will ever know, hopefully with some ground rules the thread can be reopened. If not, it sure was good while it lasted.
The thing to point out about that thread was none of it was hypothetical. It was all real. In real life there are peaks and valleys. Everyone has an opinion. In real life no one was harmed and there was nothing even close to an altercation over any of it. It was probably the most real thread I've ever seen here, it wasnt always pretty but it was always true.
Amen Mikey! It was a good way to discuss everything that went on in our little pool community...it will be missed!!

I just got a P.M. from MOD. Mr.Wilson I sent him a P.M. before I started this thread. And asked why it was closed. But at the time he was offline. Well I just got an answer from him. This is it word for word. YOU HAVE A POSTER (BIG DOG) TO THANK FOR HIS CONTINUED HARRASSMENT OF ANOTHER POSTER. I wish they would have just banned him from here like Randy did at Big Dogs.

You guys can just start an email list. That thread was a mess and we all know it.
That's a little unfair of a statement. Randy banned him for his own reasons and there are things happening to rectify that situation. Randy is ready and willing to allow him to play at Big Dogs if certain conditions are met. Bid Dog has the option to do what he feels right.
End of the day Big Dog is a pool player as is Randy, Randy also owns a business and has to look out for many people more than himself. Let those two resolve the situation. It's never good for pool to have players away from the game, that's not something to cheer about. I hope you don't end up in a similar situation one day.
I presented at a huge conference in Orlando to hundreds of engineers in early 2009 about business ettiquette. I wanted to name my presentation "Be careful of the toes you step on today because they may be attached to the ass you have to kiss tomorrow."Of course that's a bit of a joke but life takes us funny places and at the end of the day, you never know.
An email list is a great idea. The thread was not really a mess I'm happy it's all in chronological order. When the thread ends for good, it's not over yet by the way, but when it does end for good I will personally mail out copies of the entire thread to all the contributors in a spiral bound book form. May not seem like anything now but in 25 years people will look back and realize they were a part of something.
I wasn't cheering about Jon being barred from Big Dogs or if they choose to ban him on here. But in either case it's not like hasn't pushed it to the limit. All you have to do is read the rules for this site. To know when you keep posting stuff on here about someone you don't like. And calling people names and you get a warning to stop and still keep it up. I think they should ban him instead of closing the thread. Why should we loose something we use because he can't control his hate for someone. As far as Randy he took alot more of Jon than I would. If I read all the stuff that Jon and a couple of others on here have said about me and my place they would be looking for somewhere else to play pool.

Valid argument for sure. I will say if you don't like something you should try to change it, and if you can't change it you should change the way you think about it. I think that process is kind of going on now. I try to worry about things impacting me for the most part and leave the rest to sort itself out over time.

Okay we all know each other for the most part. Which local shooter are you? Are you just a second screen name for someone? I don't see the logic in you posting and hiding behind a screen name. Nothing will happen if you say your name it's just a bit skewed when you know us and we don't know who you are.
If you want to be taken seriously you will say who you are. If not we will all assume you aren't even from here and just want to stir the pot when you get a chance.
Mosconiac it's all good. No one may every know. It might be fun for us all to change screen names for a while and post randomly and shake things up.
I didn't read much of it, but it's tough to continue to ignore something when it's on page 1 all day, everyday. From what I saw, it turned into a pissing contest, and clearly some people were offended by some of the things said. I'm not taking sides, because I don't care either way. Think of it this way, with that thread closed, you guys in Des Moines now have an excuse to meet each other at the pool hall instead of talking online.
