Recommend a brand of cushion?

I've got a Gold Crown III. I assume that means K-55 profile rubber.

Artemis K-55 at $350ish is too much money for me right now. I was originally thinking possibly sticking to the Brunswick SuperSpeeds ($150ish) as that's what comes on my table. However, that's what I just took off because a couple of them randomly hardened into stone. I've also read a lot about inconsistency and other quality control issues. That said, I have no confidence in those cushions and want to avoid them.

From what I've been reading here, a lot of people like the Diamond Black K-55 cushions, around $100 or so. My main concern is consistency and decent lifespan. No random hardening after a few years. After that is playability. I'd like them to play well, but am not too picky. I'm most focused on getting cushions that will not be problematic quickly.

What cushions are my best choice? What should I go with? Any thing else worth looking at?

If I go with the Diamond cushions, where is the best place to buy them? Does it matter how long they've been kept in storage in terms of lifespan?

Thanks for any advice or recommendations you can offer.

u should use bruns curshions for replacement....

You really think so? Despite the mostly negative response by the experts here toward the Superspeeds? I have personally experienced these problems. Cushions went bad too soon.

I was under the impression that any K-55 profile will work on a Gold Crown.

hi
in europe artemis k66 is about 165 euros (210 usd) but i can't find k55
i dont know your customs tax
see dynamic billiards http://www.dynamic-billard.com
contact him
maybe is cheap than buying is us

The Artemis K-66 I can find for $185, but what I need would be the Artemis Intercontinental K-55, which is around $350. Kind of unfortunate that there is such a large price difference between the two, when they are the same thing but different profile.

I'm in the U.S. so I don't know how much tax, shipping and all that will be from Germany for cushions.

I think I'd like to stick to a U.S. supplier for simplicity.

I have a GC2 & GC3 I'm installing the Diamond Black K55's on right now, and most mechanic's I know of have ALL switched to the Diamonds over the Super-speeds. The Artemis Intercontinental K55 cushions are $300 from Diamond just to let you know.

Thanks for the tip on the Artemis from Diamond, but still out of my budget when I factor in cloth and all the other stuff I need (going to build a light too). I think I'm going to go with the Diamond cushions.

Do you have any suggestions as to where to buy the Diamond cushions?

hmmmm...my guess...would be to call Diamond:D 812-288-7665...ask for Aaron in sales.

Glen

Thanks. You know, after you told me Diamond sells the Artemis to the public, and I want Diamond brand cushions...I had a feeling my question might turn out to be a dumb question. :grin-square:

Glen, I really appreciate your help and info.

Artemis-worth the extra $$$$$

I think you should try and spring for the Artemis cushions. They are about double the cost but at only an extra 150, you'll be happy you have the best in the world. Remember, the cushions will be on their 10 years minimum, its worth the extra $$$$. JMO Good Luck

You're right. They will be on for a long time. But a lot of the experts here say that the Diamond Black cushions play nearly as well as the Artemis. The impression is that these are real good cushions, but for significantly less.

Or is the difference in lifespan, consistency and playability that much better? If the Artemis will play well in 10 years, whereas the Diamond will get hard in 5...that's a good argument in favor of the Artemis.

Glen says the Artemis are $300 from Diamond. The Diamond Black are $55.

Is it worth $245 more to get the Artemis? Is the Artemis $245 better?

Im getting rail extensions done on my Brunswick Gibson table and decided to go with the Artemis over the Diamond cushions.

I also will be getting rail extensions done on my GCII, when Glen gets back to the east coast. I am choosing the Artemus cushions over the diamond.

What I do know, is that in the last 26 years of working on pool tables, I've never had to replace Artemis cushions from going bad, but I have replaced almost all other types of cushions made...with a few exceptions, one of them being Accufast cushions from Olhausen, but they won't work on GC rails, and I don't really care for them because they're so soft.

That's a great case for long lasting!

The Diamond Black, for a home table like mine - what kind of lifespan, rough ball park, should I expect? Meaning, when are they likely, at the earliest to start getting dead, slow, dry, hard (or whatever makes them go bad)???

Figure 6hr's play a week tops.
