Schon

I'm a BIG fan of Schon's.But I do use a predator shaft with my Schon butt. And I have hit with a few Mezz's that are nice as well. But IMO Schon's stand alone as far as "Production" cues.:smile:Then Predator,Mezz.

Glad that you got the "best" cues on your hands!

I thought Jacobys were custom cues? I owned one and it wasn't production.

Dave

Since opinions are like a-holes and everyone has one, I'll give you my a-hole that Jacoby's cues hit better than anything on the list by far.

I thought Jacoby was "production custom cue"!

I voted for Schon only because Heubler isnt on the list. I shoot with a TS Titlist Conversion now but started my pool playing with an old Heubler given to me by a friend, it got stolen so I bought a new Schon & really like the way it felt in my hands.

Just reading this thread Mezz has peaked my curiosity, Im gonna have to check them out!

All of the Mezz cues are producted in Japan. Schon from what I know are still made in the US. So people have voted them for the top qualities and playabilities.

Is Heubler still made in US??

AFAIK, yes, Mr Huebler stopped mass marketing new cues, downsized his shop, but still accepts repair work.

my Qtr's worth-

I believe Jacoby makes cues for like 12 company's. He bought all the fancy cnc stuff a few yrs ago. And can now spit them out like tooth picks. Yes the ob butts were made by Danny Jane's,and Danny made some of the butts for Pred. in like 97. I hit with some here at the trade show, Danny said the Pred. shafts are real or he wouldn't of had anything to do with them. I also preferred the hits of the Joss cues to The Evan Clark Schons- They did go klink- but the first Hustler Schons by Rundy played well. Schon simply makes pretty cue, All the good players I know put pred on their Schon. I have a small collection of the Schon shafts unplayed(why I wonder). they are like all other shafts with deflection.

That's everything a cuemaker can strive for, and to replicate it in a factory mass production level is astounding to me. I give credit where it's due. Call a spade a spade. Mezz has it figured out.

Coming from a top cuemaker, that says a lot to me. Maybe I should give Mezz a closer look

schon, then joss

i would go with a schon cue over all others until proven wrong. i've had the same one for almost twenty years and enjoyed it all the time. the only thing i needed to do is get tips changed and finally get a new wrap put on it. no problems, no issues. mine has rounded points and could be sold today if i wished. i just figured it up; it has cost me about 6 or 7 pennies a day to shoot with it for all these years. resale value is pretty good as well.

good point :)

I voted for Pechauer

I see that a lot of people voted for Schon and most of the commenting is about Schon cues. I played with a Schon for a few years around 20 years ago. I really liked the play of that cue, for a production cue. It was a nice improvement over the Meucci that I had played with prior to getting the Schon.

Since then, like many of you, I've owned many different production and custom cues. I owned a Nova cue that I think played better than the Schon, though I don't think Nova is a production cue.

I've played with some Pechauer cues that I think played really good. Of course, not all of them play the same, since there is a lot of different styles of Pechauer cues, unlike Schon, which seems to be pretty much the same setup for all their cues.

Anyone have opinions on the Pechauer cues.

Cheers,
Skippy
