Cue Designer?

i really have no idea, that's why i was hoping to find something that would allow me to experiment. that flash one is best so far, but i can't see different point designs with it. (2,3,4,6, etc)

[after playing with the designer for a while]

i'm pretty sure i want an ebony forearm with cocobolo points, not sure if i want 2 with red-black-red veneers, or 6 alternating high-low (I've seen those on other cues, i like the look of them, but i don't know how it would look with my options). in playing with the rings on that site i like how the a and e ring matching and the c and d match - but different than the other two looks - just a bit of eye-candy really.

it's pretty basic really... and i could probably find something close to what i want in the value section of a cue store, but i want a quality built cue, i just don't want all the fancy (and unnecessary to me) inlays, ivory, jewels and everything else that jacks up the price. i'll also get a new OB shaft for whatever cue I get anyway, so...

i wish the crown cues site had a visual version of their estimator tool, since i'm going with them eventually.

Heres a 6 point, 3 high 3 low ebony forearm with red black red veneers and some brown points

all i have to say is awesome choice!!! i have a crown of my own and love it. gene and renee are awesome people as well. make sure to post pics once you get it made. i always love seein their cues. they are aesthetically appeasing lol

Heres one with 6 high points, changed the color of the points to a lighter orangish brown, same red black red veneers, pic quality is poor.

Wow HellFish - that's awesome!! Thanks for the effort! I can definitely use this a base reference - and I'm sure now if I got 6 points, it'd be high-low for sure. *green*

jfais1717 - yeah, i'm going with them for a few reasons, the first being I want to help support fast lenny's streaming and they are one of the sponsors, the 2nd being i was really impressed with their selections (and pricing), the 3rd is they get amazing reviews from everywhere i've found one. if only i didn't have to wait for 9 months. lol it's like deciding to have a child a this point.

Any idea what the butt sleeve or ringworks going to be?
For the forearm, the length is 12 inches, and hi was 10, low was 8 inches

Also any idea what color the cocobola wood should be? in one of them, the red veneer was barely noticed. If you can link me to a prefered cocobola color reference, i can try to match it.

hrmm... i'm hoping for a deeper red-based cocobolo, there's a samsara cocobolo barcue in the raffle section that's pretty close, but it's a little more than brown in the pictures i'm hoping for. you could probably grab one of those and boost the red channel a bit to get it close.

as for the ringwork, i'm not sure what crown has, but using the azcues builder, you can bring up design #440 for what i'm thinking about. it doesn't keep the wrap the selection though - i've selected a black leather wrap, but it keep showing a black/white linen. i selected a steel joint cuz they didn't have a black phenolic - but honestly i'm not sure if i want that either. i've only ever played with steel joints, and the one wood joint cue i hit with i didn't really like. guess i need to find a phenolic jointed cue and try it.

you must be bored at work to be looking for specs to build other people's cues virtually. heh. are you using google sketch-up or something else?

i know what you mean. crown cues are also one of our sponsors and are always on our stream talkin and chattin with us. i hope they will be at the gem city this year as we will be there. me and dwight(bigdogatlarge) do he weds stream thats on the otr page

Changed color of the points and added a steel joint

Any ideas for ringwork, description wise? I can try to give it a shot.
As for my job, its really boring and hard to get anything done.

If you look at the bottom left, you can see that the points are not flat bottomed but rather V-Grooved.
This was done in solidworks

I had a job like that once... and I did things like this all the time. Well, it was designing/outlining battle plays for SOCOM. We started building 3D maps with sketchup, but that took even longer than I could put into it.

As for rings, i'm thinking a black-based double-thing silver rings with a silver diamonds overlaying, spaced so there are 4 diamonds i guess? (going off the preview image of half of the cue)

the buttsleeve will be an exact mirror of the forearm - shorter of course, but the woods/veneers (hopefully); if that's not possible, then just ebony by itself. i might select a window or something, but i can't really decide yet.

Hellfish, did you end up trying that program? Or use something else. Either way, pretty cool. I'm trying to work up the urge to do something similar.

No, I didnt try that program yet. I was trying to get the wood grains (limited selection) to show up in solidworks.

I am going to try to make the designs for the ringwork tonight, but instead of 4 diamonds, I'll make it 6, and try to have each diamond line up with a point. Ringwork position on BCDE positions, or just below the joint, and butt cap?

The Buttsleeve should be easy if its a mirror of the forearm. I could try and attempt a 6 window, 3large/3small buttsleeve with matching veneers, I will try to update tonight.

I'm also doing this in my spare time away from work.

I've been inspired to drag out the old POV, which I haven't played with in forever. Made a little cue. It's pretty easy... I have a cue texture I can edit in photoshop and just wrap around this 3D stick.

The image is very wide, which wrecks the forum formatting, so here's a link. What do y'all think?

Butt Sleeve with diamond ringwork, I might modify it because I overestimated the size of the diamonds.

Damn, I can't green ya again until I green someone else. :/

That's a great rendition! The rings look nearly identical to the ones on the site - and I like how you have them matched up with the points. :)

I updated the forearm with the ringwork and tried to bring out the point color

Updated the ringwork on the buttsleeve slightly

I started on the windows version of the butt sleeve, but the windows were thin when i tried to make 6 windows, alternating hi/lo.
