Mercury Ultra vs. Tour Edition cloth?

I have a friend with a very nice, fully refurbished 10' Brunswick snooker table and he's wanting to have new cloth put on it - but he wants something faster than what he has. It's painfully slow. We're looking at Mercury Ultra or Championship Tour Edition... which would be the best way to go? I'm leaning towards the Tour Edition myself. And no - he doesn't want Simonis...don't ask. :P

So gimme the low down - Mercury Ultra vs. Tour Edition on a 10' snooker table. I've never seen Ultra on anything other than a bar table ...

I have found that the Tour edition shows ball marks alot quicker than Simonis, there really is no better cloth. Ball marks are not wear but they are unsightly to alot of people. Tour Edition is a good tough cloth but I don't use it anymore. I would use something like Velocity pro before I used the ultra, not a big price difference between the two.

I've been using Mercury Ultra at Dave and Busters for about 3 years, and I think it junk. On the other hand, I think the Tour Edition cloth is the second best cloth made.

I'm with Donny on this one. I like the Tour Edition enough that I used it on my own 9' table. Still have it on and it's wearing great after about two years of daily use.

I tried the new "Pro Form" worsted cloth a couple weeks ago on a regular customers 9' table and he seems to like it over the Velocity.....so far! He had the Velocity on for about a year and a half and did like it also. I will make periodic checks with him to see how the Pro Form is working out.

cloth

We could all go on for days about cloth..
My suggestion is..cloth is not gonna be $cheap for a 10' table, he just got his table refurbished! that's is baby! use the snooker cloth. Simonis makes a great one...it would be foolish to put anything else but snooker cloth on it, do it right' he will be very satisfied for many-many years to come.

Ideally you would want a directional cloth made for snooker but given the
2 choices you'll get more speed, better precision and no fuzzies with the Tour Edition.
