The first one looks like mahogany...as for the other two, maybe its the pics but it looks like walnut and poplar to me...I'm far from an expert and no cuemaker but that my 1.25(taxed)cents worth

Pics 1 & 2 - I'm going to agree it's Brazilian Cherry, aka Jatoba.
pics 3 & 4 - I don't think this is BR. Possibly zircote, or zebra wood???
pic 5 - looks like yh to me. Can't see enough detail in the other sticks to really comment. Padauk on the long one and bubinga on the short one?
final pic - I'm really not sure about this one, but I'll throw out a suggestion for discussion . . . olive wood?

Identity aside, how much of this wood (whatever it is) will yield a minimum diameter of at least 1-1/4" in dowel form?

Pics three, and four do NOT look like Braz. Rosewood to me either. More like a mun ebony, or something along those lines, zircote, etc.

wood id

Pics 1 & 2: looks like Jatoba, but the bottom-left board is hard to tell because its quarter/rift-sawn. Could be a Mahogany.

Pics 2 & 3: looks a lot like Imbuia, aka Brazilian Walnut

Pic 4: Yellowheart with some Jatoba dowels.

Last pics very hard to tell. If you take some closer shots I will take another look and try to help.

How similar is the rosewood to the walnut stil might make a cue out of it ?

Yeah, that doesn't look like Brazilian Rosewood to me. If it isn't Imbuia, I don't know what it could be.

I assume it should be okay for cues. You might have to core it because it is on the softer side - similar to Cherry or Soft maple in hardness. It is also less dense and lighter in weight than many of the more traditional exotic cue woods. Could be a great choice for jump cues
