Hello cuemakers,

i would be in interested in your opinion about *Buckhorn*. Are there any *minus-points* to use it as a joint or as a ferrule. Just saw sometimes cues where Buckhorn was used and it look extremly nice to me.
So what about his abilities,

thx in advance and lg from germany,

Ingo

I use them.
They take a lot of work and seasoning are the two biggest minus I think.
Plus, most are not so clean.

In my opinion buckhorn plays with a very crisp high frequency sound as opposed to other ferrrule materials. Firm hitting when matched with a high quality medium tip. I prefer the often mottled appearance and feel it can add a classy look to some modern designs. I haven't tried it with the new Kamui black tips yet. This may be a worthwhile experiment.

Some feel the mottling distracts their play but I believe they are looking for something, other than their lack of focusing capability, to blame. Oh my shoestring was untied, that's why I missed ball in hand kind of player.

There are a couple on my website for you to look at if you want.

TripXQ mentioned guys that complain and blame missing a shot on being distracted because of something small that really had nothing to do with missing the shot.

i'm saying i've met plenty of guys that do that and i've been one of them from time to time
