Money in advance

AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT SENDS thousands of dollars in advance for purchases then has to send less than fifty bucks before someone will release their product? I would think for small purchases within the cuemaker world you word should be enough to release the product. I doubt a cuemaker wants to ruin his name over fifty bucks. JUST MY OPINION. Especially if he's a known AZ participator. ANYONE AGREE???

I'm afraid you need to state your problem a little better as I have no clue what you are referring to. If you are talking about receiving some type of goods without payment up front then I'm afraid I would have to disagree with you. Nothing will break up a friendship quicker than money. I am owed many thousands of dollars from lending money to players or letting someone test drive a cue without having the money only to never see them again.

I have to agree with you Dick, it's a bit cryptic as to what happened....
I personally only send TRACKABLE payments when dealing online. Anything less is asking for an issue to arise. I will say, I have had someone actually send stuff before payment, not that I asked for it, just that they wanted to make sure that I liked it before paying. It was a great leap of faith on their part, IMO, as I haven't dealt with them before this, but it was nice to know someone was trusting, but I can see many others taking advantage in a similar situation.

If it's "only" $50, why would a customer get so worked up about it?

If it's important enough to the customer to raise he$% about, then it's definitely important enough for the cuemaker to not deliver a product that's not fully paid for.... EVEN, if it's only some piddly amount of money.

The cuemaker/supplier/seller/, whomever it may be, is in business to make money, and should be paid accordingly.

Pay up or shut up.

In God we trust. Everybody else pays before it ships.

The last time I let something leave my shop without being fully paid for it was to someone that was "upstanding".
The balance still due is $50.
Like I said ... it was the last time.
I dont care if my brother wants something ... it will be paid for or it dont leave the shop.

Twice in a row I paid Atlas Billiards in advance and got shorted . It's not the amount , it's the principal ... The price of doing business ... Good luck on getting a vendor to send a product before payment . I had one who would send product before payment . The world has turned ...

I have lost numerous times on small amounts installing tips or such on the cuff. Once I had a customer who posts on AZ Jason something and lives in Cincinnati place an order for a 1000 cue. I had been doing a lot of cutting new purple heart
Dufferin's in half and putting a pin in them for him which he was selling on AZ. When the cue was finished I called him and he came in after work on a Tuesday. He inspected the cue and said it was exactly what he wanted and that he would be back Friday, after work to pay for and pick up the cue. I told him to go ahead and take the cue and test drive it to be sure he liked the hit. He said great and needless to say I never saw him again and didn't just lose the 1000.00 cue but also the work on the cues I was converting for him. I later seen where he sold the cue on E-bay for more than he was supposed to pay me for it. A little over two years ago a player here in Cincinnati by the name of Steve Kitto, the son of Scott Kitto, ordered a cue from me. It was 650.00. He put a 20.00 deposit on it. about 3 weeks before it was to be completed he came in and said that he had sold his Schon and wondered if he could borrow a cue to use until his was finished. I lent him one of my older cues that I sometimes lend to people while working on their cues. It had a Predator shaft on it. I got his cue done on a Wednesday and he said it would be 2 weeks before he could pay for it as he had to use that weeks money for rent. He wanted to be able to use it that weekend as it was the APA playoffs that week end. That's the last I seen of him and both cues.
Now these were both people I seen often in my shop and who live right here in Cincinnati and I can't get paid. How easy do you think it would be to get paid from someone across country?

Do you have their address? I'd be kicking their doors down if they tried that with me.

If only we could put a LoJack device in our cues to be able make them unplayable and then be able to track them down.

Sorry Guys!
Guess I hit a sore spot.
I hate being cynical.

You live and you learn.

I've had it both ways. I've had people and some businesses send me stuff before payment was received but it was an exception and certainly not expected, but was appreciated. I also have sent or handed items without prior payment and each time that I get burnt I swear I'll never do it again.
