I put my son in my 9-ball league this season.
Sadly we had to cut the season short because the room is closing tonight.
We played a single elimination playoffs for the cash.

My 10 yr old son finished with a 7-3 record in the season, and is now playing for the season finals, he's guaranteed 2nd place.

Very glad I let him play although it's ending on a sad note. This is the last room I know of where they kids in, guess he needs to wait a bit to become a pro.

Here in York we have the same problem. I've been saying for a while that the game here in York county is going to die in a few years. There isn't a single place a kid can goto play. In fact there isn't any where to play on a 9 footer unless your a member of a private club. I think most of us pool nuts were grabbed by this game as kids but unless you have a pool table at home that isn't going to happen.

There is another thread about it being a good time to open a room. Here is a great opportunity for you and your son.

It looks like he is off to a great start. Good luck and success to you and him.

What is his name so we can follow him?

Sorry to hear about your room, but that is awesome to hear about your son! Do you have a pool table at your house? I hope you and your son are still able to play somehow.

We have the same problem here (Lafayette, LA). The only place with a pool table he can play on outside of a residence is the bowling alley, and those tables really suck, not to mention one of the alleys has black cloth and flourescent balls with black lights. My sons love to play, but we have no venue.

congrats

Congrats to your son, Hope you find a place that will allow him to go in and play. Has he been to the VNEA Jr Championships yet?

My son Manny Is very fortunate to have a place to go and play here at Dan tulls shooters in Olathe ks.

Dan knows Kids are the future in pool and lets Manny come in and play with free table time for him anytime. He also sponsors Manny in local events around here.

I wish more places would work with kids , at least on weekends , so they can have a place to learn and play the game.

Make sure that if you find a place for your son to play that he behaves in a good manner, This helps let the owner or manager know that your kid is serious about his game and not there to horse around. I think that this is what sets Manny apart from other kids around here, So owners and managers always welcome him to their place.

If you are ever in KC Look us up.!

Good luck

No table yet, but there is space in the barn/garage for it upstrairs.

Looking for a new non-bar type place to play in the area, but they are all closed that I can see. We played in Country Club, but that room closed not long ago too.

We've been playing for almost 2 years together, since he was 8.

I have been teaching him to be polite since we started, he knows to keep away from the table, he misses, he goes sits in the chair.

Oh, BTW, he WON!

Last set went hill hill, both of them were 3 handicap, so was a race to 3. He got to the hill first, but then totally whiffed on a very sharp cut on the 9. Then the last game he made a tough cut to win the whole thing. Talk about beating the pressure, not many grown ups can shoot in a situation like that, last 9 ball of the season, people watching. He beat a 50 something yr. old that round. No fear in shooting for the game winner, I have seen him make some very tough shots to win games that day. Like cueball pretty much frozen on the end rail, 9 ball past the side pockets in the middle of the table, shoots it in like it was nothing. And these are 9 footers with tight pockets.

\\\Just awsome! Have fun watching your son play as I do mine.:grin-square:,

It feels great to see your kid doing good don`t it? Enjoy as much time playing pool with him as you can, And don`t push him too hard, Just nudge him alittle ,And always tell him how good he is doing. Hope you two enjoy the game together as me and my son do , For a long time.

And tell your son we said congratulation on his win.!
