I cannot find all my Bobby Stocks photos, but I have a bunch. He used to love to go hang out on the rail, sweating the action. He put a lot of players in action, as a matter of fact.
Bobby was a heavy cigarette smoker. About a year before he passed, I saw him at Glass City Open in Toledo. He told me he had to quit cigarettes. You could see he was trying hard to kick the habit, one which some folks never do quit.
He always seemed to have DEEP pockets, as I recall. Bobby owned a very successful transmission shop in Virginia. When Bobby walked into the pool room, you could be sure there was going to be action. He was quite fond of Pooky and put Pooky in action a lot.
Bobby and Gene Hooker went to school together when they were kids, a little Bobby factoid that is unknown. Hooker, of course, is no stranger to action either.
Here is one picture I found, though you can hardly see Bobby. There's Pooky and Kevin West checking out Pooky's cues, and you can see a smiling Bobby Stocks in the background. If I can find another picture of him, I'll post it. RIP, Bobby! [Didn't we used to cal him "Whitey"?]
