So the first-Sunday-of-the-month $15 handicapped tournaments are no more?

Oh Well

That sure will stop all the beginner players from getting in to the Sunday tourneys. Too Bad.. I have some trouble wondering why they would want to make a small field even smaller..

The same guys are going to win every week. There's not much luck involved in a 25 point three cushion game.

Hmmm

The BIG question is why havn't the folks that run Chris's put a thread about it there. It amazes me that pool halls do not do more to promote their events. Chris's tournament next weekend is three days long $255.00 entry fee and will have some of the best players around in it. Yet not a peep from them. Maybe they do not need to let folks know about it..

The management/ownership of Chris's Billiards are totally clueless, not to mention apathetic, re. the internet.

You ask a great question.

For a few months, I have posted over and over... especially in the Tournaments section, that if you have a tournament and want free promotion, send me the info and I can get a full article out on it with the Examiner.

So far... I have done two for tourneys, but had to ask the pool hall or promoter if they wanted one.

Some of my columns get onto page 1 of Google news billiards, so I am perplexed as well why they wouldnt want some free publicity for their event.

Why are you perplexed?...I answered Quesports'/your question in post #10, the post preceding yours.

Argonath,

How can the USBA take advantage of your offer?

Apathy might be the right word!!

I still find it amazing that many billiard room owners seem to have no clue about marketing. It is not only Chris's but many and maybe most that do almost nothing as far as advertising or marketing. When business is slow you need to do more marketing/advertising how else are you going to bring in customers. There is the sit and wait option, not a real good plan, but the one I see most of the time. I play at a pool hall that has free pool on one night a week and no one knows about it because they only have a sign in the window. Most customers walk right by and do not see it and the employees do not take a moment to say "hello how are you tonight did you know we have free pool on Wednesday?" It doesn't take much but mostly I see no effort on the part of the owners and employees of most billiard establishments to promote their businesses.

Send me an email: theprofessor@cox.net

I can write on virtually anything regarding billiards... both locally (phoenix), and nationally.

If you have special events, tournaments, results, profiles on players you think deserve recognition, press releases on your association, etc... send me the information and I can get out an article.

Eric at Chris's told me that they are still going to have the $15 handicapped three cushion tournaments on the first Sunday of every month. They have the non-handicapped tournaments on the other Sundays.
