Table lights question

I understand lights should be at 37" above the table. My home table has only a 2 bulb 4" long florescent light that is more like48" above the table. How much difference would this make?

I play and practice at home on a 35 yr old Fisher coin op, which is night and different then the diamonds I play on at league. Nothing I can do about my table but will different lighting help enough to warrant spending money on a new light or will just lowering my cheap setup do just as good?

so much goes unsaid in your letter . Is the Fisher 7' or 8' ? are the bulbs completely exposed (metal fixture) or is there some type of shade ? Even though 4' florescents all use t-40 bulbs , are they energy savers , soft whites , or commercial bulbs ?
Most 'pool table lights' are designed for the 7' bar box , and may not provide adequate lighting at the ends of 9' tables .
But the answer is as simple as this - does it provide consistent lighting along the length and width of your table , with no 'dark spots' that the light doesn't seem to be reaching ? Are there any strange or elongated shadows behind the balls ?
Most importantly , are you comfortable shooting under that light ? If so , leave it alone ! This is definitely a case of 'if it ain't broke . . .'

7' table bare bulbs completely exposed. & soft white. Yes the ball has different shadows according to where it lays on the table. I am trying to make as much right as I can. I want all play and practice to be as close to the same conditions as possible. No need to slow my learning curve.

two options , depending on your financial situation
option 1 buy the big table light from Diamond . you'll love it
option 2 buy a couple 8' industrials and hang them yourself

consistent light is essential for aiming
