Brunswick Bi-centenial balls

So a player on my team brought a set of these to show me Tuesday. I guess a customer came in and gave them to him knowing he was into pool. I initially thought they were just an old cheap set of balls as I'm no expert and didn't recognize Hyatt.

I didn't think much of it but I realized after doing a brief search they are the bi-centenial set made in 1976. Really cool looking, wish I would have taken a pic. Any idea on the value of these?

A complete Hyatt set with box and certificate might go for $300-$500 on Ebay.

Aramith also made a bicentennial set with a different star pattern around the numbers.

This is a complete set in the Hyatt box, I did not see a certificat though. Thanks for the info.

If they are the Hyatt with Roman numerals I sold 2 sets with original boxes that had been used at Asbury Park World Straight Pool Championship in 1976 for 800 a set about seven years ago.

Those particular balls were not very good mechanically. I attended that tournament and brought a ball gauge: a plate with two round holes, one 2.255" and one 2.245" in diameter. The fives and sevens (as I recall) mostly had problems being both large and small. We sorted through the extra sets and found enough for the four tournament tables. I suspect that Hyatt rushed the production and quality control was abandoned.

Of course this is immaterial to a collector who is unlikely to mike his acquisitions.

Here's a pic of my set. Bought on eBay just because they looked cool . . . They just may be worth something some day. ;) I also have an unplayed set of clay balls, and the set of numbered ivory pool balls that you see in my avatar.

Now that we're on the topic, here are a couple of other ball sets that I have. The top two pictured together are clay.

Ok, ok, you have twisted my arm. Yes, I will trade you my Bi-centennials for your beach balls.
Very nice sir.

Mr. hoppe, what are the metalflake looking balls and what are the hemorrhoid scratcher looking things?

Yes, he certainly does. My beach ball set is in one of Roger's boxes.

This is one of the coolest threads I have seen in awhile. My hat is off to all the ball collectors who have posted photos:smile:.
