Going on a week long vacation tonight to Miami for some relaxation. Anyone know of any decent poolhalls there? No dives please. Just a clean decent pool room with well kept equipment. Thx guys!

Doral Billiards, a little on the Latin side, but nice.

Felt, is a decent spot to chill at if it is still open. They had like 8 or 10 tables, cant remember now. They charge to get in usually no more than $10. Always have drink specials going and most importantly there will be people there. If you want to meet some ladies thats the place to go. They charge by the table too if I remember right and its like $15/hr.

If you want to play seriously somewhere I can't help you. If you want to have a good night out or place to chill before hitting the club than hit Felt up. Tables played good in there too.

LOL! I was watching Jersey Shore the other day and they went to Felt. (don't ask me why I was watching Jersey Shore;) )

Let me help out some bc honestly your getting a bad steer here. google for addresses and numbers.

Sharpshooters: Friendly regulars, usually the place you will find the best players in Miami. Some afternoon action and they have a $5 all you can play special noon to 5. Happy hour pool time special 5-8 where its free pool if you buy two drinks. Do not go on Free beer nights, the place is wall to wall bangers. Gold Crowns/Simonis. Best high dollar action is usually 1p but cheap sets of 9ball and straight pool can be had here.

Pegs Pocket: No action. Hodge podge of tables mostly gandys and gold crowns. Not really recommended, very few players go here even though this was the premier room in miami in the 80s.

Bird Bowl: No players. Non smoking room. Two GCs and the rest are gandys. Simonis cloth. Not recommended as there are no players.

Hollywood Billiards: In Broward county. The best players in Dade/Broward hang out here. Lots of 3 and 4 figure sets go down here and you can find action at all speeds. You have to be a bit careful here though. At least one story I have heard from multiple people had a road player get jacked in the parking lot. Airballs and tough matching up goes on here. The owners are great and the locals for the most part are good people. If you get down, unless you have some insight into who you are playing, make em post! 6x12 Golf game is always going during the day and most of the night. The have a fantastic ribeye steak special here. $8 for a steak!

Doral Billiards: Newer room, Brunswick metros and 4 or 5 heated billiards tables. Great place to play 3 cushion. No real pocket billiards action that I have seen. Banger hangout. Not recommended for pool, just for billiards.

New Wave: Brunswick gold crowns. The place in miami that currently has tournaments. Mon and wed is ninebal $10 entry/handicapped. Tues and thurs is 8ball. 10 entry, also handicapped. Expect to get handicapped high as a newbie. Largely spanish crowd, a bit loud at times but good people. You will find most of the APA 4-7 speed players here. They run league out of here too. recommended

South beach has a place called the Lost Weekend. Bar table tournament that starts around midnite on tuesdays. Usually a pretty soft field. No entry fee and i think it pays 100 first. Good place to go get some drinks, watch the South Beach Gazelles run and maybe snap off a small 8ball tourny.

Im gathering by you posting here about info, that you want to go to a place where there are at least some players. Felt is not the place to go. You will see hot chicks and most likely their asses will be on the tables next to the beer spill stains. If your going out on southbeach, i guess its ok...but thats not a pool hall.

So you are married, eh? That's what I go outta all that!

thats funny...the married pool addicts analysis of local pool rooms hardly every discusses female action....unless they match up and gamble that is!

Under no circumstances park under a tree at night. If you dont heed this warning, up to 50% of your car will be hit with giant globs of bird shit.
The Grackles roost there every night.

Your knocking the birds action!

seriously, this is GOOD advice. lol dont heed it and you will seeee

The truth of the matter is the road player jacking's that happened in Broward/Palm Beach county were a decade + ago. I play at Hollywood since I moved back to Fla and have gone there since Bertram Bob opened it in the 80's. The owners are pool freaks, the regulars are hardcore pool people and between them both wont have that element hanging out. Meanwhile...the ribeye ROCKS!!! Good luck

Guys, thank you all for the input. I do appreciate it. I found that I'm located on north miami beach. All I know about transportation out here are the L-route and S-route metrobuses that take me down to south beach. Honestly came down here for around the clock beach, pool (the swimming kind), and tropical drink chillaxin. But the lifelong pool addiction has me going through withdrawal if I don't shoot some stick soon.

The story about birds and the trees is hysterical and good to know though.

Anyone have suggestions for those bus routes?

your screwed if your looking to take a bus to the pool halls in miami. Miami mass transit is really bad. If you dont have a car, well then i would say just forget it... settle back and enjoy your vacation without pool.

Damn I didn't think it would be that bad. Just inconvenient at best. Figured since its a metropolitan area that I'd have a shot to at least one decent place. Without a car.
