I just finished putting together an obituary for George Rood. A short version is on the OnePocket.org home page, but the complete obituary is here:

http://www.onepocket.org/GeorgeRoodPoolinAction.htm

Permission is granted for reprinting either version of these as long as a credit to Steve Booth, OneOpocket.org is included.

I got to know George a little from interviewing him and honoring him at Derby City -- he was a special guy.

nice job Steve.... you have to feel blessed to have had a chance to not only meet him and spend time with him, but to also be the one that put together a event to honor him for a Lifetime Pool in Action award.

It's a very special thing you do for these guys that are up there in years and have probably never been properly recognized for their achievements in the billiard world.

I had the great pleasure of meeting George Rood at Derby City about 2007 and had breakfast with him a couple of times. He was one of the most pleasant great players I have met, with a fun sense of humor and great stories. He was still playing amazing pool at that time, although he had switched from the young man's game of 9 ball to the old man's game of one pocket.

Very well done obituary Steve. Thank you for posting it. I remember reading about Mr. Rood in BD a few years back.

Some are blessings to those who have known them and he sounds like one of those.

Thanks Steve, I was at his induction and just listening to him and others talk about him you could tell that Mr Rood was for sure one of the good ones. Thanks for the obituary and all you do for pool.

My sympathy for the Rood family and friends.
