Here is a chinese article that talks about a method of applying english that produces very minimal cue ball squirt that you don't have to compensate.

If you click on the link, you will see a cue ball with a little curve on the cue ball. That is the area where little to no cue ball squirt happens.

I've applied this method mostly to cut shots for the cue ball to travel 2-3 rails and had good results with it. And for shots where I'm purely trying to pocket the ball, I will aim at that area of the cue ball too, because even if I put some english on it, the cue ball will still go out straight.

Give it a try and let me know what you think.

I learned this method in japan. I dont really know if it decreases squirt so much as the curve back compensates for the squirt very well hitting that part of the cueball. You can make some sick kill shots like this and it gives you confidence on those long thin cuts.

Thanks for posting what sounds like an interesting article.
Unfortunately, I never learned Chinese.
Can you paraphrase the method for the rest of us?

yea, and my browser wont translate that page?

I can't get it either. How do you compensate for squirt on a hard impact shot where swerve isn't a factor?

Referring to this diagram.. notice the little curve or U that is marked by a black line. What the article is saying is that when you hit at that part of the cue ball it will create no squirt, or not noticeable enough that you would need to compensate for it. So when using english, if possible, try hitting that area of the cue ball to increase accuracy.

One section suggested the reader to try a straight in shot, but with left or right english in that curve. Don't compensate for squirt and hit it firm. The ball should be pocketed with no problem and the cue ball will remain spinning.

I think the best application to this method is on cut shots to alter the cue ball path. Maybe it would work as a stun draw shot with some spin to some degree.

The article also suggested that when purely trying to pocket a ball. Try hitting in that area of the cue ball (about half a tip to a tip below center. It would be very accurate even if you accidentally apply some english on the cue ball.

Little english, little squirt. Doesnt seem like a big secret, but ok I'll try anything once.
