Someone suggested that comparing Therese vs. Mercedes game is like comparing a pitbull vs. a chihuahua.

Assuming the quote is accurate, I can't disagree more!

Mercedes does not play under ideal conditions as much as Therese does. If she did Mercedes may have a better average than Therese.

Put both under the same conditions and I submit Mercedes will come out on top over Therese 7 out of 10 times. Mercedes has more heart and has a larger shot repertoire.

Therese is more mechanical but lacks imagination.

I havn't seen Therese play so can't comment but I sure wouldn't short change Mercedes.

Steve; I'm the guy that made that statement, if anyone on this forum would like to dispute my statemnt in the way of a WAGER,BET,ACTION,GAMBLING. I will lay 8 to 5 on the MONEY for any amount up to $3,000.00 USD. Providing the 2 combatents play at least 35 pt. games.

I just disagree with it.

I'm sorry I don't have that kind of money to bet up to $3,000. But I would be happy to oblige with a wager.

I guess you could respond by saying "Put your money where your mouth is." Which is obstensibly what you're saying.

But as confident as you sound, 8 to 5 on the money doesn't sound like a pitbull and a chihuahua especially with the 35pt. caveat you added.

Let me ponder.

My point is that player averages can be misleading for a lot of reasons. One maybe continuous playing conditions. Since the Netherlands takes their caroms seriously, perhaps they take their table conditions (faster) more seriously as well.

Don't underestimate Theresa , she is very smart.
I respect Mercedes game as well (talented ).

Steve; It's simple math, one person averages 1.10 the other .700, not to hard to figure the outcome! Good,bad, any kind of equpitment.

Yes, numbers do matter. But you also know that numbers don't mean sh*t when it comes to the human equation. I have beat people I had no business beating and got my a** kicked by people that couldn't pronounce tickie.

Bill, I have not forgotten our bet. My counter offer is as follows:

On approval from both women, we will set up a series of matches. The matches will be under the current style of 15 point sets. Best 3 out of 5, 5 out of 7,or whatever out of whatever . The matches will be played in Miami on Mercedes home turf.

The amount can be whatever we agree on. My suggestion might be that the loser pays for Therese's airfare.

Steve; I hear your counter offer, but I'm a little hazey on where and when do they play 15 pt. sets in this country, mabe I missed that sanctioned tournament, refresh my memory! Playing in MG's home room, sounds like you want a spot involved for her!, for MY money should be 35 or more. And I will lay the odds I proposed.

Do you know if Therese is going to Miami tournament this week? Will you be onsite when and if they play?

Me: I wouldn't think so. I have not spoke to Therese. My guess would be that she will come for the World Cup in April. We can set up the match (given their blessing) before the World Cup or maybe the Nationals if she sticks around.

As far as me being on site, I would hate to miss the expression on your face when you reimburse Therese for her airfare! LOL

p.s. Therese playing Mercedes in Miami should not be a problem for a pitbull.

Steve; We must of got off track! I'm not looking to reimburse someone's air fare, I'm looking to BET on this match!

What we have here is a 2 horse race, when one horse is favorite over another horse in the same race, the better has to lay odds in the underdogs favor, that's what I'm willing to do, 8 to 5. If you put up $1,000.00 and WIN you receive $1,600.00 winners for your $1,000.00 wager. That's called para-mutual betting.

I don't like 6 or 7 furlong races when I bet, I like to get my money's worth, at least a mile on the turf, where the jockey has time to figure his game plan, pure and simple!:deadhorse:

Of course if I win enough of a purse, I'd be more than glad to present Therese with some of my winnings, what she does with money is her business!

And I'm sure you would like the bet you offered. That's why you made it!

Frankly, if I were to lose the bet, I'd rather the young women benefit (Therese's airfare) then us two old farts.

It's not about us. But I will consider what you have said.

I will also consider any provocative ideas any one else has to make this match come to fruition.

Someone should be talking with TAR or MI_Billiards for live streaming. And maybe $25.00 for PPV.

Instead of Therese and Mercede.

Steve A. Can you explain this statement Mercedes does not play under ideal conditions as much as Therese does.. As Mercede play in numerous USBA Events [Your Included] and Sang Lee international. What is ideal codition?

My counter offer to Bill was that I would pay for Therese's airfare if I lost.

If you want in on the action and concerned about Mercede's stake in this bet then by all means be my guest. Jump in the pool. The water is fine.

I don't want to get into a vortex with you about what I meant by playing conditions. I gave an explanation to maxeypad2007. If the explanation is not adequate or insufficient then I apologize for my inability to communicate well.

I'm still open to see the #1 rated female player in the world (Therese) and the #1 rated female player in the U.S.(Mercedes) match up.

Can I get some sponsors to help make this happen?

Hi steve,I thought this match over and if they played 50 points M.G. might win 1 game out of 6 so as far as M.G. winning she is playing a ONE average player who has played with the best MEN players in the world. The Euro Players are by far better then the U.S. players. I wish I could agree with you but the only way she could win is the pressure factor what maybe can happen in one or two games but in the long run lights out for M.G.
