Dennis searing brazilian rosewood 1/2 joint

Still wondering

If you're not a buyer, why are you posting in this guys thread? But, if your really not purposely hating on Searing cues...you could have sent him a PM with your question...I suspect you know this already

I happen to be a buyer. At this time my favorite cue builders Mike and Tim are gone.I am looking for other cues was considering Searing but can't figure what all the hype is about. My Question still stands. With all the great cue builders out there why is this plain 4 point cue worth $4750.00.

PS. This is a public forum so expect the pubic to ask question in public.

I have a question... and I'm not knocking anyone (owning a Searing is still on my list simply because I love to collect)... do Searings really play that much better than a Black Boar, Scruggs or one of the other HIGH end cue makers? Can you really tell a difference? I consider myself a good shooter (highly ranked) and I've shot with some of the best. I own quite a few of the best. But I also own some low end customs that I think play really well.

So, I pick up my Black Boar. I pick up my Scruggs. I can't tell THAT much difference between each cue. Yes they might play SLIGHTLY different. But, is that really that big of a deal if they both play really really well? I can do the same things with both.

So, my question is... is this Searing going to play THAT much better than those other cues?

As for the price... supply and demand would dictate that this cue is worth that from a collectors standpoint. No problem there. (Though I do know a Black Boar 6 pointer with a ferrel-less shaft for that price. ) I just wonder about playability.

I have owned a few cues...
Had a 4-Point BB, 6-Point BB, a few Scruggs, had PJ Vollmer, have a 6-Point Vollmer, had 2 Showmans (offers were too good to turn down and let them go), owned a Full SS Joint by Dennis, and now have 2 half Joint SS cues by Dennis.
They are all great cues and each plays a bit differently with my favorite combination being ebony cue with a maple forearm and a lower mass at the joint.
But so far my favorite cue for really enjoying a game with consistency is the Half Joint by Dennis Searing.
Less mass, great balance, stiff tapers and consistent feel as what I like about my half joints.
They are great players and the book-ends in my Cue Collection Picture from last year are the favorite of the lot.

For me, a half joint SS Searing (still want to test out Ivory over SS joint - one day) is the best choice but it is not for everyone.
