Bounties

You know how poker tournaments sometimes put bounties on the top players? How do you think that would work in a pool tournament? If the players didn't know who had the bounty on them. Maybe start out at $100 and if that player won the tournament, they would get the extra money.

Just an idea but didn't know if that had already been tried

I think that's a fantastic idea.I've played in poker tournaments like
that.
Maybe the top 8 seeds would have this bounty.Make players strive
and be more eager to compete where they're not a favorite to win.

We had a bounty on Cliff Thorburn. Only one guy took it. But he knew he was a marked man from the beggining.

I guess I'm confused, I thought I've seen other bounty set-ups where the player who knocks out the guy with the bounty, gets the bonus.

Like, lets say me and SVB are playing in the same tournament. (LOL!!) Of course, SVB has a bounty on him, and by some supernatural divine intervention, I knock him out of the tournament, I would get the bounty money.

If I ran a Bounty tournament, that's how I would do it.

I think that's a great motivator. It could really get your lower players excited to play the top players, and maybe they push/focus just a little more and give that player a good run. And you know the players with bounties are going to want to make it to the top because they don't want anyone taking "their" money.

:thumbup2: Just my 2 cents.

This is an awesome idea !

It will at least put excitement in the room .
But to put the excitement in , you have to know who the bounties are on . . . .:)
None of this 'secret bounty' business . . .

Bounties have been used in pool tournaments for years. At least since I can remember (I started in 1958). Normally the player that beats last years champion or the number one seed in the tourney gets the bounty (provided by the promoter or house).
