I am considering updating my pool room with new (or newer) tables and was wondering what if any feed back I could get relating to the Gold Crown V. Also I heard that Brunswick manufacturing was now overseas and was wondering what if any impact that had on quality. I have limited (but good) experience with Gold Crown IV and would not be opposed to going with used G.C. IVs if they were in very good shape. Thanks in advance. Mark

the Gold Crown 5 is a better table than the 4, stronger frame, butcher block rails. Not sure how the ball tray will hold up in a commercial atomosphere in regarding to mechanics constantly taking it apart, I would suggest a drop pocket if you decide to go with Gold Crown 5's. have you considered Diamond? less expensive.
 
I agree, the Diamond Professional is a Gold Crown look-a-like and it isnt near as expensive. but if you got the $$$ then you cant go wrong with either.

What kind of tables do you currently have in your room and how many?....I might be interested in working out a trade-in for the tables you already have against the new Diamond ProAm's. The design and playability of the ProAm's today is unmatched by any other tables currently on the market, and is the future of todays pool players...not last years model waiting on another change to come out before they get it right...as Diamond is already there. ;)

Hey Mark - long time no see.

You mentioned that Brunswick Gold Crown V are made out of country. Yes they are and so has every Gold Crown in the last 20-30 years or so. (Not sure when they moved manufacturing overseas-but I believe the frames were made in Brazil back in the 70's or 80's.)

The Diamond tables will treat you better and have much better warranty. Brunswick has had some serious slate problems in the past and I know of 2 instances they would not even try to fix the problem. (majority of tables had crowned slates)

Call me if you have particular questions. (If I remember, you had AE Schmidt or Olhauson)

My 18 year old $1800 Olhausen Drakes are just about wore out. If I upgrade I would like to do 12 tables all in 46 x 92, this would keep my tournament area the way it needs to be. What ever I go with I am pretty sure I want very friendly pockets, we no longer have a real contingent of strong players, so making the casual players feel good is the way I think I want to go. I swear the couple of years or so these Olhausens played very tight but in these tough times we need to encourage new folks any way we can. Mark I will PM you and see if we can set up a time for a phone conversation. Thanks to all who replied.

Now that you've let the cat out of the bag...looking for 12 Pro8 46 x92's...good luck finding 12 matching tables in GC4's or 5's used. Even Diamond isn't sitting on that many 8ft'rs...and they have a playing surface of 45x90....I know, I'm sitting at the Diamond factory right now. The only way Diamond could help you is with new ProAm 8ft's in that quantity, as far as pocket size goes, that can be worked out...even if I have to custom size the pockets for you here at the factory...but, go ahead and talk to Mark Griffin first:grin:
