How many times do I have to say that I'm not a CTE user? Guess you smart kids don't read none too good........

No, that's why we're ruining pool...HAHAHAHHHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Really Shawn, why are you trying? (especially since, ahem, you "don't use an aiming system").

I still have coffee in my nose from you PhDs ruining pool--and that's for the clarification that the criminal PhDs are only a small SUBSET of PhDs. You're priceless!

I have to tell you, Stan, if you got a panel of unbiased and EXPERT observers (say, for example, like a panel of professors of mechanical engineering) you would come away VERY disappointed (and much poorer).

Have you truly not realized that?

What you would be describing would be seen as nonsense.

Just days ago I worked with an individual that is an engineer for Ford Motor Company. He endorsed CTE as an objective and accurate aiming system.

Perhaps this student may chime in with some of his thoughts.

My wager is not going anywhere. An unbiased panel is all that I require and CTE will be declared a viable system.

I look forward to hearing from him. Maybe he'll be able to explain how an aiming system manages to aim balls at pockets without including information about where the pockets are. Now THAT'S a "chime" I'd be amused to hear the tone of!

I would REALLY REALLY REALLY love it if you could encourage him to take part in the discussion.

Just a question in advance: What are we to assume if he decides to DECLINE the invitation....??

And WHY would he want to Amuse you.
You are a nobody in the pool world

GMT,

I've asked a few questions directed at you, and didn't get an answer from you regarding ANY of them. Please answer, as you seem persistent when you ask the questions.

#1 - what is your high run in 8ball?
#2 - what is your high run in 9ball?
#3 - what is your high run in 14.1?
#4 - what aiming SYSTEM do you use?

Thanks in advance!

There has been no invitation. I clearly stated "perhaps"

If he reads the thread and wants to respond that is his choice.

This individual has very few posts on AZ and I can assure that should he post, it most likely Would be 1 or so entries.

Methinks that many folks wouldn't lower themselves to dignifying this thread with their participation. Since it's so welcoming and thought-provoking. What with all the civility expressed by most of the main players.

GMT, you likely believe this thread (and the others recently closed or banished) is a hoot. You must be receiving a great deal of amusement from it, given your continued participation. I assure you, the attitude you present isn't amusing to a great many folks. Sadly, enough of them here continue to play your unwitting accomplices, and try and banter with you. At this pace, this thread will be shut down, too, or banished to NPR like the other one.

Gonna go hit some balls now. Maybe I'll figure out which end of the cue to use, then I'll go from there.

I've answered questions about my playing elsewhere. Nobody has any business requesting me to "give stats." They're certainly of no meaning in this discussion.

Where's that logic you claim to be so handy with?

The small, pointy end with the leather on it. I have a mathematical proof that it's much more accurate than the other end. Besides, CTE only works with the thin end of the cue.

The system will stand the test of time as being objective and extremely accurate.

Your patience in answering to all provocations is remarkable Stan!

Looking forward to having your DVD - it will be my Christmas present, a perfect one! I already arranged it with Santa ;-)

You're questioning a Pro player's aiming system. I think a few of us would like to know your credentials for thinking you have more knowledge than him. It's a fair question. Here. I'll start:

My high run in 9ball - 5 pack
My high run in 8ball - 4 pack
14.1 high run - 70

I am by no means an expert, but I think my aiming system works ok. It's my consistency system that needs tweaking.

Some very LARGE and very FAST back-pedaling, then?

Stan, I suggest you make the "invitation." All he has to do is make a decent case and an awful LOT of argument and disputation can be ended.

But perhaps he wouldn't want to share the revelation? The revelation of the MIRACLE of an aiming system that doesn't aim?

Geez, too bad....

Yes!!!

Trembling...

Some of us even question...GOD...without being god ourselves.

The "aiming system," Shawn, is 100% baloney. I could (and would) question it from a wheelchair.

EDIT: And just to keep things simple and get something pointless over with: my playing stats are VERY similar to yours--except 8-ball. I've hardly ever played it.

Ironic that you probably don't know that the "which end to hit with" question was the historical IMPETUS for the invention of the "pool cue."

Apparently (any confusion over the definition of that word?) the only time you can make an interesting comment is when you don't realize you've done it.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

Time to weigh in.

First, I know many others will disagree with me, but I love the fact that this forum allows for such passionate, and in your face discussions. I work in an engineering environment, for a very tight laced company. We're not even allowed to look cross-eyed at each other withour HR being called in to mediate. So this forum, and its free expression is a breath of fresh air for me. I hope the moderators continue to air on the side of free thought and allow this debate to continue.

Second, speaking as an engineer, information is power. The more that's available, the better. It allows us to make our own evaluations and come to our own decisions. For me, like most of you, pool is a life long passion. I welcome any and all tools someone may make available to me. Are some crap ... yes. Are some great ... also yes. Have they all increased my awareness of what's crap and what's great ... again yes. The point is the information is made available and I exercise my right to make my own evaluations. Without the information, I have nothing to study.

At this point, all I'm looking for is a clear, consise, explanation of how to use CTE. Stan's DVD, which I've already ordered, promises to be just that. If it works for me great. If it doesn't, so be it.

Lastly, thanks to all for your passion.
James
