Agreed.

I disagree.

Many of the "CTE proponents" also seem ridiculing and even hateful at times, and some rarely (if ever) offer any insight or useful information. Do you think their participation is valueless also? I just see it as something we have to live with as part of belonging to the AZB community. It's like any real family. Family gatherings aren't always perfectly "harmonious."

GMT still has a lot to learn about interpersonal communication, but he does seem to have good ideas and questions at times. Unfortunately, few people actually see value in or even read his posts because many feel attacked and ridiculed by him. I hope a week off of "time out" will help him understand this better.

Sincerely,
Dave

Dave,

This is a POOL FORUM, not a debate forum.

What pool item of VALUE did GMT give to the pool forum?

GMT was a cancer on this forum from the time he got here until the time he left. If you think a leopard is going to change his spots you're more optimistic than JoeyA.

GMT's participation in this forum has caused nothing but resentment and anger.

Personally, I wouldn't allow GMT back on the forum. It would be a permanent ban. He's been warned before about his breaking of forum rules. If he is allowed to return he will continue to needle other posters to their breaking point whether he continues calling them names or simply ridiculing those things that he doesn't agree with. Personally, I don't think the forum needs this.

I think anyone who is constantly attacked will eventually retaliate. GMT made it a habit to ridicule at every turn. At least the regular members on this forum whom you are referring to have seen fit to be civil at other time, even kind and helpful and to contribute positively to the pool forum in their own way.

I'll be giving an update on my progress with CTE/Pro One soon. It's been a week at least so that is due but I just wanted to respond to your post.

Joey,

You certainly ain't no crawfish ... you're a relentless lobster. :D

I know a lot of people didn't like GMT's "CTE is silly" thread, but I honestly think it resulted in more CTE insight and information than all past CTE threads combined!

You're probably right about GMT's "spots," but that remains to be seen. He hasn't been here very long. I know when I first joined the BD CCB forum many years ago, I didn't get the warmest reception by everybody. Part of the problem was me being naive and disrespectful at times (sometimes without knowing it). I know some AZB users still might see me that way at times, but I think I've learned to be a better forum "citizen" over the years. Maybe there's hope for GMT also.

Regards,
Dave

Let's step back, take our panties out of our ass cracks, and just look at the thread, as a whole.

Lou - a little edgy, and a bit sarcastic, but he has value to the forum. We need people like Lou here. Even though he's made some pretty immature comments about me, I like him. I have broad shoulders, and can take a little ribbing.

Dr. Dave - an awesome resource of information. He has his beliefs, but he usually remains scientific and impartial when looking at systems. Again, a valued poster, and we need him here.

GMT - a new poster with a massive chip on his shoulder regarding CTE. Does he have value? Yes. Is he more abrasive than a Scotch Brite pad? Yes. Does he need to tone it down? Yes, but not regarding his opinion. So what if he doesn't see it the way we see it. That's his right. He just needs to stop taking it personally, and stop making personal comments about those that have different opinions.

Pat Johnson - another valued poster. He is incredibly smart. So what if he doesn't buy into CTE. Does it mean we don't want him around? If we all agreed on every topic, this would be the most BORING newsgroup on the planet.

The people on the CTE side need to take a bit of a pill and relax on our stance. If they don't believe it, they're allowed that belief. We cannot ram it into their heads, and they will not convince you it's bogus. Do we care if they use it? I don't.

We all know this discussion is going absolutely nowhere, and that GMT, given his obsessive personality, will be back at the throats of the CTE proponents the second he returns to posting. Don't give him the attention he craves and needs. He needs an audience to validate himself. If we don't respond to the thread, he'll be stuck with a few others talking about how silly it is, and he will not have the chance that he craves to try and make himself look smart.

Let's just let this thread die while he's off for the next week. Do we really care enough to keep this going?

It's kind of funny how some of the CTE crowd can't see how hateful they are, engaging in more shameful behavior and name calling than the one's they accuse. A couple of them are incessantly take pot shots at others, with little or no value added, over the course of their participation in these threads. But that appears to be OK and no one is calling for their dismissal from the group. And then you have this small radical intolerant Taliban-like faction that is always calling for someone's head, someone's ban.

I guess they are the holy ones.

There have been jerks on both sides of the fence, Lou. Just because there are a few extremists, doesn't mean we all deserve the white jacket with the attachable sleeves.

I thought this thread was cte/pro-1 with Stan Shuffett? It started out as a positive thread. It's a shame that a select few on here hijack anything with cte in the title.

Excellent job. Finally, sanity from the CTE Taliban. Good job Shawn.

You are absolutely right Mr. Figueroa.

Not a good choice of descriptive wording. As a veteran and having my son in the military I don't care for the comparison. I use Cte and feel this is disrespectful.

Neil:
Pat's got too many years into saying it can't work as stated to take an honest look at it.
What exactly should I take an honest look at, Neil? I've heard everything you've said about it, and it adds up to nothing. Same with everybody else here. So far, there's nothing to look at.

You should take an honest look at that.

We need the Shawns too, because basically they're alright :-)

Short of someone really losing it here, I don't see the need for anyone to go around banging their drums for fellow posters to get banned. In the first place, it's not their job -- that's up to the mods. And running around with the torches and pitchforks, trying to drum up a mob, only makes that individual look like an intolerant boob.

Oh, absolutely, Shawn. That's why I said "some." John is the only one I'd immediately consign to the rubber room :-)

If calling respected instructors snake oil salesmen, insulting their livelihood, and throwing condescending insult after insult isn't grounds to get banned - I don't know what is. Funny how you think that those responding to insults in a harsh manner are the "real" ones taking pot shots. He deserved to get banned (I hope he never comes back). Hey, I'll admit -- you're no Mother Teresa either but and least your insults and cocky innuendos are so passive-aggressive, most go unnoticed.

Thinking GMT got the shit end of the stick is like thinking Hitler was misunderstood. CRAZY.

I'd be thinking that if anyone at all in these posts would have the "right" to contact the mods regarding GMT, it would have been me. The guy questioned my intelligence, and pretty much called me a liar about having a degree in anything besides Tarot Card reading. I never said a word to anyone, never reported him to mods, and never tore him a new one.

Some people are being a little thin skinned. Man up, take the lumps. No one got hurt by him. If someone ended up feeling inferior because of things GMT said to them, their issue is with their own self awareness and self esteem, and not with GMT.

Bring the kid back. He's not causing me to lose sleep, and I haven't had to revisit any of my textbooks to prove I'm not stupid, or was perhaps a closet Fine Arts major.

I apologize. It was used previous.

I was the one who used it and I stand by it (see how that works, Spider).

I was addressing the radical, intolerant, mob-stirring behavior of *those few* calling for permanent bans, particularly when they themselves have engaged in behavior at least as hateful as the behavior of those they accuse.

Pat, re-read Mikjary's post #452. There IS something there, that you keep glossing over. If you were to get a lesson on it, and, my understanding is that most if not all the instructors offer money back guarantee, then you would SEE just what key piece you are missing. Then, and ONLY then, can you make an informed decision on it. As it is, you are judging the whole "system" knowing only parts of the "system". And then trying to convince us and others that the system can't work as described.

Now, if you want to take a lesson on it, and then disagree with it, so be it. We are all entitled to our own opinion. But, don't judge it as a fallacy until you actually know if it is or not.

Lou , GMT went far beyond being a critic, and you yourself are famous
for your pop shots . The slander towards Stan was uncalled for.
It was as if he was on a mission to discredit him and .other top
instructors that contribute in a positive manner to pool and this
forum. GMT has made it clear that he thinks he is superior and who
is some instructor to tell him he is wrong .
