AZ buyer security???

I am looking to buy a cue from AZ but how do you send someone money with security that they will send you the cue and if not your money is not flushed down drain? PayPal? And how do you tell if the person is a reputable seller or if they have made a transaction before??
 
Use Marcus (AKA FASTNLOOSE) as an escrow service. For a small fee, he is the middle man. When he receives both the cue and the money, he sends them out to the respected parties. He can also probably act as an "inspector," so you'll have a better idea of what to expect with the cue.

I recommend this highly, especially with a transaction that you are unsure of.

In other words, you send Marcus the Paypal/$. Only when he receives and examines the cue does he forward it to you. Then he releases the $ to the seller.

There are other members on AZ that provide escrow services, but he is the one most are familiar with.

Re: your first question- you use a credit card.

Re: your second question- you look at their itrader record.

seriously though, don't forget to actually check the itrader because it tracks purchases and sales seperately. someone could have a bunch of 1+ purchase ratings and no sales.

escrow would be the way to go though, especially if it's a really high dollar item.
 
Ask AZ to start a holding service, if they hold the cash and product from both parties then the transfer can be canceled or confirmed by an independent any time.

It works by each party sending their item/cash to AZ. After AZ receives both cash and product they can resend again.

The real question of can you trust AZ is something I cannot answer.

A.K.A. escrow.

@ the OP: how much money are you talking about here? I think that would help determine the best method.
 
I Have not figured it out yet, I am waiting for the guy to contact me.. :\ It is a $400 cue. But still think I will go with an Escrow for only $20... better than losing 400 right. Thanks for all the input!!
 
I have a different slant on this....in my experience, it's usually the seller who has more at risk. Not nearly as much risk when dealing with someone with an established history on Az but rather with a person who has just registered and has "0" I-Trades.
We all had to start with that first transaction so I understand the op's concerns about this forum verses eBay (a whole nother story of seller fun....not so much!) or an established online retailer. I was a bit apprehensive when I did my first transaction here. Since that first transaction and the vast majority thereafter, I'll take the Az sales experience over eBay almost every time.
I've heard of far more instances of Az sellers getting burned than buyers. It is enough of a possible risk that I require new buyers to pay via USPS money order or Western Union before I ship out anything. If I'm buying from a new member I need to have the product in my hands first. If it's as described we're good to go and payment will be sent. If not I'll send it back and I'm only out my shipping cost.
I'll make an exception if a buyer or seller has an established and respected member who can vouch for him or her. An established paypal history works too but even at that I'm only shipping to a confirmed address with signature confirmation.
I'm sure that most of the established members here know all of this but I just feel that it needs to be said......If you are new and have zero transactions you have a lot more to prove than someone who has been here and done this. It's just like a new guy at work, you have to earn respect.
Should you be cautious? Absolutely! But be aware that we who have done this for a while have good reason to expect you to go the extra mile in order to earn a good rep. We've already done that and I'm sure that for most of us, there have been some bumps, bruises and apologies along the way towards earning our rep.
That being said, I sincerly wish you great experiences here.
