Okay so I have 8 Dynamo barboxes 4 diamond pro-ams and 4 9 footer's to recover.

My questions are would I be better off to buy the cloth pre cut or just buy a full roll. The cloth is going to be simonis 860hr tournament blue.

2nd question is where should I order the cloth from??

3rd question is would any of the excellent mechanics on here want to come to Winnipeg MB. Canada and recover all these tables?? Also I will be probably be putting new rails on the diamonds.

If the pro-ams are 7' or 8' you're looking at about 33 yards of 66" cloth so a half bolt averaging 35 yards will work
78" cloth is used for 9' cuts so that would be another 13 yards for four 9 footers..

My recommendation is to get precuts as you can get 16 cuts in 1 box as opposed to shipping 2 rolls so shipping should be less. You don't save a whole lot of $ with yardage plus if there's any flaws in yardage you own it whereas you can return a flawed precut.

Check with Dick at Billiard Wholesalers (866-780-7280) 9am - 4pm CST or check directly with Simonis.

Certified RKC Diamond mechanic

I would be willing to travel up to Canada and work on your equiptment and even recalibrate your Diamond tables to the new spec's.

The only drawback is, just like table work in Sioux Falls, SD, I would like to be there in July & August when its 125 Degrees here in Las Vegas. Yeah thats correct 50-53 celsius.

Let me know

Table Mechanic in Winnipeg

If someone is coming to Winnipeg I would also have my table done, I could also assist with some free labour and a place to stay. If was to guess there would be a few more tables locally that could use some help.

Mike

I'm willing to go

I'm willing to go to Winnipeg, but as I stated before about going to Sioux Falls,SD, I would prefer to got there during the summer when its 145 degrees here in my shop!!! I would be driving my service truck and bringing all my tools and tooling with me.

okay, Thanks for the reply PUTT, if I don't decide to recover the tables before that I will give you call. If you are interested in an adventure where the temp. could be around -40c you could come in January I bet you would be missing that +50c after a couple of days here in January

Thanks

Table Mechanic still needed

I just spoke with Todd (froznShooter) he is still looking for someone to recover his tables and if anyone is willing to come to Winnipeg I'm sure more work could be arranged.

I would also like to have my table looked at (9' Diamond Pro) if a mechanic makes the trip north. If no one comes to Manitoba I would have to look at shipping my rails to a mechanic somewhere.

Mike, you should also buy the cloth from Gordon, let him make the buck on cloth. I'm sure it would help pay gas. I like buying the cloth myself then I make a few bucks and I can make sure it cut the way I like.

I believe Todd had spoke with Gordon about doing his tables, Todd mentioned to me today that he has not heard from Gordon. Basically Todd and myself are still looking for someone and i'm just reviving the thread. If anyone is interested including Gordon please contact Todd (froznShooter) via pm(he will away until Monday), he would be your contact to organise everything.

Thanks

Mke

Just a question...........

Have you ever tried to take tool across the Canadian border????

You can't legally work without a permit and you cannot take tools across the border. People I work with have been caught and had to leave their tools at the border. Then you will be on the list. For about 10 years after that they were always called off to the side for a total search and inspection.

Unlike Americans, Canadians protect their jobs.

That has been my experience.

Canadian work

I'm not familiar with the border protocol, but I made it to Seattle, I'll be here for a month and then to Anchorage for a week, then back to Seattle heading to? Sounds like maybe not Canada

Gordon

you need to apply for working papers and that will allow you entrance with still likely some additional questioning at the border and perhaps inspection I know first hand but I thinks its better not to lie at the border and say your doing something other then what intended Just need working papers like foreignors due here lol

A passport alone and a bunch of tools in your vehicle won't likely get you in either, save yourself trouble and get papers if you want to go there to work or any other Foreign country like England for Snooker tables
