I believe there is strong general sentiment favoring the EW. However, that property underwent serious renovations that made the space available for pool tables too small to host the DCC. As I understand it, there really wasn't much of a choice -- it had to be moved.

I really enjoyed the derby at the Executive, but like Lou said, it had to be moved. I like the current setup, but the EW had an air of action to it that is gone now. The food is much better now, and the tournament is really no different. The only thing really missing is the action room, which was my favorite part of the EW. The current room is too small and just doesn't have the same feel.

I am really glad that I had the opportunity to go to the derby a few times at the Executive. There was just an attitude and air about it that you can't explain to someone unless they were there. The tournament is still good, but just different.

yeah...

the executive was the triple nuts. more room and you could see all the action from anywhere in the room.

I like the set up at the Horseshoe as the rooms are nicer, the parking is better, the food choices are more plus you can leave and still get a parking place, and the balcony is a nice place to sit to watch the action in the main room.

The bad part is that the action doesn't seem to be as great as the players are in the casino.

The Executive West was the best I have been to all of them except the first year and I can tell you the Horseshoe will never be able to compare to the Executive West.

To me, everything about the new place is better EXCEPT the ACTION.. Which seems to be feeling from the majority.

I must be going to a different DCC. I like the Horseshoe quite a bit for several reasons. SAFER by far, more and better food choices, newer cleaner rooms. etc. It is farther from the airport (although shuttle service is provided), but as far as action is concerned, this past DCC had lots of great action matches every night. More big games than I've ever seen in the past!

Yeah, but Jay, the EW was a sweater's delight....you could see 6 out of 10 gambling matches all from one seat....there is barely room to stand in the Action Room at the Horseshoe...even the large room upstairs down fro the action room is tough to sweat with no seating for the railbirds.....Ther might have been 30 people sweating the MJ and Incardona match last year and that made it difficult enough to peep around everyone....in other words.....too much work to sweat.....:D

I concur with most here. The EW just had the ambiance. But then again it could just be a case of "old school is better". I know Greg Sullivan had no choice but to move and he weighed all his options.....he always thinks about what is best for the players and fans. I just THANK Greg and don't know what we would do without the Derby!
