Room Accommodations at Horseshoe Southern Indiana

You may now book your room accommodations online for the 2011 Derby City Classic. Bookings via telephone will be announced at a future date.


There are two types of room reservations offered at Horseshoe Southern Indiana:


Code S01HDCP: Discounted 9-day package (you must book package for arrival on January 21, 2011 and departure on January 30, 2011). Please request a separate reservation for additional nights booked before or after these package dates.

OR

Code S01DCCC: Individual Booking Dates (book any nights you choose between 1/20 through 1/29/10).


Here are some very important notes on room reservation policies:
 Every room reservation requires a charge of the first night's deposit at time of reservation.
 This deposit is taken at the time of booking and is nonrefundable. No exceptions will be made.
 A maximum of four people are allowed to stay in each room. Rollaway beds are not available.
 If the discounted 9-day package is booked and any one of the nine nights is canceled, all room discounts will be revoked. Prices for all nights booked will revert to the full individual date prices.
 Must be 21 to rent room.

Minimum stay: 9 nights
Dates available: arrive Fri 1/21/11 and depart Sun 1/30/11 only. Please request a separate reservation for additional nights before and after these package dates.
Price: $99.99/night. Additional $10 per room night per extra room occupant when more than 2 occupants.

Policies/Terms: A credit card is required at time of booking. The nonrefundable first night's deposit is charged for each reservation at the time of booking. Reservations for the 9-Day Package rate cannot be booked for fewer than the 9-day consecutive stay for the dates mentioned above. Cancellation of any day(s) within the 9-day package will result in all days reverting to the individual rates of $120 Sunday-Thursday, $140 Friday-Saturday. The Hotel will accept 9-day package reservations until the block is full.

No vacancy?

I called the Horseshoe Casino Hotel today to make a reservation for the DCC and was told all of the rooms were sold out. Is that possible?

I called the Horseshoe Casino Hotel today to make a reservation for the DCC and was told all of the rooms were sold out. Is that possible?

The information I learned is this.....

1st I called the generic hotel reservation number and asked about a block of rooms for the Derby City Classic on Jan 21 - Jan 29th. She could not find anything about it. Once you give them the code S01HDCP, then magically it pulls up the group rate and they suddenly are able to see the event.

I asked about how many rooms they have blocked off for the event and this particular lady told me they had 200 rooms blocked off and that there were 179 left.

Since I wanted a smoking room, I was told there is no guarantee of a smoking room, even though a person books it 3 months in advance and pays a nonrefundable deposit of the 1st night value at time of booking.

Which brings me to the Seinfeld episode of You know how totake the reservation, you just don't know how to keep the reservation, and after all, that's really the whole purpose of the reservation is to keep it. Anyone can take a reservation.

So after inquiring about how many rooms were smoking and how many weren't, they knew nothing about that, so it was time to place a call to the actual hotel. (812-969-6621)

From there, I learned that they have 4 floors of 10, that are smoking.

Giving my players card number, got me additional discount on the weekdays of 60.00 a night and mixed in with the 99.00 a night for the rest, saved me some money that way.

When asking the actual hotel how many rooms were still left out of the block of room, they supervisor said over a 100, which can mean about anything.

It sounds like there are plenty of rooms left from what I gathered. At no time did my conversation talk about the individual nights and the rate and availability of those, so I have no idea if that 200 rooms mentioned were for both the entire stay or also for the individual nights that and a special rate too. But I only mentioned the entire stay code for what that's worth.

I thank you for your feedback. We are already looking into making this happen next year.

You sell a lot of rooms for this event. How about including some extras in the deal? While I realize you are a Casino, Vegas, Reno, Los Angeles, etc, all provide more extras with their rooms and at a lower cost. Besides the money this tournament generates, your concessions in the upstairs bar, downstairs bar and food, the hotel restaurant, all did very well. Almost every other event attended by players at other venues have refrigerators, Internet, etc. This is a great money maker for the Casino, many other venues would like to have it also. The Exeutive was a great place as far as viewing the tournaments, but the food was horrendous. The Casino has attractions that make it a great place, but pool players only have so much money. The champions are there and they have their backers, but us little guys get pounded by the extras. I have enjoyed my stays every year. I really don't want to stay at the Holiday Inn.
