I posted the following info yesterday in a thread I started a year ago ( http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=147472 ) but a reader thought I was still looking for a cue. I decided to type a modified version of the original post in this new thread so the people I want to thank won't have to read through last years posts....
I finally purchased a Monster Ed Prewitt from AZ'r ActionCentral last month and had it shipped to Louisiana where I'm working temporarily.
I (nervously) spent twice the amount I originally budgeted. This was pretty scary since I NEVER thought I'd spend this much on ANY cue, especially one I intended to play with and couldn't test in person.
I breathed a sigh of relief after it arrived in perfect condition, just as the seller, Jeff described.
Due to my busy work schedule and lack of tables where I'm currently located, I was forced to wait two weeks before I could drive to New Orleans and play with it. After three days of table-play, I'm relieved to say I'm EXTREMELY happy with the way the cue plays. I doubt I can describe how incredible this puppy plays! It feels perfect, it hits perfect, it sounds perfect, the balance is perfect... My description is not perfect, but I hope you get my meaning.
And the appearance? It's drop-dead GORGEOUS! It has a classy and stylish look and an old-school charm - sort of like a well shaped woman who hides her curves in slightly loose clothing or a Luciano Barbera or Brioni custom tailored suit.... It's simply beautiful and the idea Prewitt I was searching for.
I was a little nervous playing with it the first day and had a feeling I was going to rub it against something and scratch its gorgeous finish. The price I paid also caused a little distress, but I'm over it now, and I've gotten over the "playing with my first expensive custom cue" anxiety.
There was another Monster Prewitt I saw a year ago on AZB but it sold before I had enough money to buy it. It had a set of custom JPs with ivory threads and I kept looking at the pictures every day for months.
But you know how the saying goes - "Good Things Come to Those Who Wait". I like my cue more than the other, and I think it will be the ultimate Prewitt if I mate it with matching ivory-threaded JPs. I contacted Ed and he will make a set for me when I return to California. I also look forward to purchasing a second (less expensive) Prewitt for bar table play once I recoup from Xmas purchases.
Thanks to Jeff for putting up with all my "pre-purchase" questions and delivering a cue true to the specifications listed.
I'd also like to thank everyone in the original thread for their help and suggestions, especially PistolPat, Ed Prewitt, Eric Cole for introducing me to Prewitt's cues a few years ago and the guys at Hard Times in Bellflower, CA for allowing me to hit with their Prewitt cues.
