hey everyone
new to the forum
i have had a gandy sportsman for years, the table plays great but did not have the correct rails, well looking through craigs list i found one for sale at a great price and basically bought it for the rails which appearance wise are in great shape, the rubber does not seem very lively, so here is where i need your expertise
looking at having the rubber replaced, what would be my best cushion to buy, what profile

i will need to replace the felt on the rails as well as the table, what felt do you guys recommend

in regards to the above i want to make this table play it's best for home use, dont need the most expensive but again i want this table to be the best it can be, but dont want to waste money

also the new table i bought actually has better looking leggs than my table
would i be safe if i used a bottle jack with a 2x to support the corner (one at a time) and swap the leggs out

i plan on having a local mechanic do the work on the felt and the rails

thank you for any input

thank you

sean

If it's a 4-leg table, you could get away with jacking the corners, although I would use a 4x4 to be safer. Where are you located?

Jacking the table may throw the level off and if so it's a waste of time.
Do it right and remove the slates, replace the legs then relevel like a fresh install.

i live in knoxville.

any thoughts on the rails and cloth

thanks guys

As I recall Gandy takes K66 cushions. Championship Tour Ed or ProAm cushions would work well for less than $100 a set. Cloth-wise you could spring for Simonis but if too costly there are other good worsted cloths for less. Check with the guy that you have setup to do the work and see what he recommends. You can post that here for second opinions.

i will be checking with him, just have not been able to get off work in time to go visit him

thank you
